Trying to find a thread to put this in and figured this might be the best. If anyone has a better suggestion, by all means let me know.

Anyone ever had any real issues with O'Neill's customer service? I've just taken delivery of a significant enough order of club gear for the family. Embroidery, some personalisation etc but the state of it is appalling. There's an absolute mountain of backing material from the embroidery left on it currently and when I first got on to them they told me they wouldn't refund it as the garment itself was fine and suggested I cut the backing material myself, while acknowledging that this should have been done in house. They subsequently suggested that it was merely an "aesthetic issue". The sheer quantity of the material left on it is an irritant.

Pushing them for a refund but they're refusing to budge. They say the garments are not defective and because they're personalised, can't offer a refund. They have offered to do the repair work themselves if I can return it to them. They of course can't organise collection because I'm outside the UK and Ireland, but that they'll reimburse me.

I'm being a moany p***k, but there's absolutely no way they'd let items like this be sold off the rack in store, so I'm not certain why it's any different for an online purchase. It's not one or two items either. It's anything with embroidery in a total order of several hundred euro. Thoughts? Am I being too pushy, or f**k it, considering what I've shelled out should I go all the way with it?

Not necessarily an update on this but somewhat adjacent. Club put in a big order for them recently. Jerseys, shorts and a rake of their new reversible bibs. Jerseys had the wrong crest on them. Bibs that arrived, despite being ordered in "Adult" size, were sized "Juvenile 14-15".

Their quality/quality control at the minute is a complete and utter shambles.

There's a GAA club called Rome Hibernians. Could try giving them a shout.

So to sum up, nobody actually knows the entirety or precisely what happened, but everyone is certain the ref got it wrong or fucked up in order to shaft their team.

However, why are we so quick to accept that schools should close, but banks and post offices have to stay open?

Numbers are low for sure, and I'm not at all saying that should stay open, but if these were small, rural banks or post offices, or schools for that matter, I'm nationalist areas, would you be quite so triggered by it?

The problem with that argument is that it assumes "trans rights" are being infringed upon in the first place and that a lot of these "rights" are based on the statement that "trans women are women" and that refusal to blindly accept that makes someone transphobic. Perhaps not insignificantly, most people shouting "trans women are women" tend to be men. Thanks for your input Daniel Radcliffe. This is even more ridiculous when you see someone like Starmer refuse to answer the question "what is a woman?"

Given we're a GAA discussion board, the main focus here is around sport. Saying trans women should not compete in women's sports is not a denial of their rights. The argument against it is backed by numerous credible sports scientists, e.g. Ross Tucker. Introducing "trans women are big and yes that might hurt someone playing rugby, but the numbers are so small it's irrelevant therefore it doesn't matter" into the discussion is a red herring. The issue is the principle and integrity of women's sport as a protected category. Lia Thomas, for example, winning NCAA titles competing as a woman denied women who haven't gone through male puberty the chance to be a national champion. That is simple, irrefutable fact. That statement does not deprive her of her rights to live her life whatever way she so chooses.

As far as the discussion around medicating kids with puberty blockers etc, anyone who genuinely argues in favour needs their head examined, as evidenced by the conclusions of the Cass report. Language around "the trans movement" is unhelpful as it's not as if there's some monolithic entity out there speaking for everyone, even if some organisations or individuals purport to. Hello Owen f**king Jones. However, there are undeniably organisations and individuals who appear to have a specific agenda when it comes to trans issues, e.g. the pushing of medically questionable practices such as "tucking" or advocating for parents of minors not to be informed of medical procedures they are undergoing. There was an infamous Vice article a few years ago with the title "How to go down on a trans woman" that interviewed several prominent trans "sexperts". It was littered with complete nonsense that in many cases was decried as medically unsafe. Calling out crap like this is, again, neither transphobic nor a denial of rights.
