1.14 to 1.9 for Monaghan , at Healy Park , in the football

Yeah great result for both the minor team on sat and the ladies on Sunday.  Was at the minor game and there were some terrific performances all over the pitch.  Hughes (the captain) led by example and kicked 5 or six points - three of which were as good as you'd see anywhere.  But he got great assistance from both midfielders, and the defence held together very well (was very impressed with young walsh at wing-half back). Up front McCarey caused problems and Pete Dooney justified his late drafting into the starting line up with a brilliant individual goal at the end.  But all the other played contributed to a great win which after last years performance against the same opposition was probably unexpected.

Good luck in the final lads.

They are up against it, but they werent fancied in their other 2 games. Belief is high, they have nothing to lose. Monaghan by 2

Well the minors never really got going on Sunday.  They just seemed to freeze on the day.  None of the leaders were on song with Hughes having an off day which sort of set the tone.  Some of the players seemed off the pace but again this may have been due to nerves.  It was a total contrast to the Derry match were every player seemed to be on song.
Hopefully they can re-group for the back door round in a few weeks

How did Mark Connolly end up playing?

Flew in on the Saturday night after playing a youth game for Wolves that day. Don't think we'll have him for the QF.

RIP Wayne.

I see Aughnamullen beat Corduff in the IFC last night.  They now play Emyvale in the next round.
