Long overdue. I'd have no objection to the price being even higher. It's an avoidable tax, so no one has to pay it.

I generally use the reusable bags for the 'big' shop - especially in Tesco where they give you points for it (although that will probably stop now). M&S have used NI as one of their UK 'pilots' and have been charging for some time now - you get into the habit of carrying a few things in your hand rather than pay for a bag when you don't actually need one.

By the way, down here it was sold as an environmental tax, when its real purpose (and achievement) was to stop litter (of shopping bags).
