Some record Arsene's babies have in this competition over the last 5-6 years. Hope to draw Spurs again. Remember 'Are you watching....'

Poor performance today but a always a guaranteed 3 points against the Spuds,. I like the big Dane think he'll be something special but why did Wenger play only 1 up front at home doesn't suit the Gooners fluid style at all....happy days though  ;D

Very subdued Dinny. Any word on Van Persie? A great move for Adebayor's goal with Cesc always producing that wee bit of class in every game.

Wenger seems to favour the 1 up front tactic and to be fair to him it has come up trumps so often this season.

Seemingly RVP has  a "little" injury and should be available for the Portsmouth game, Portsmouth were very poor today, I think their players have one eye on the ANC, think the goons will pick up all three..

This story along with the Tree House Charity gig last week restores some faith in premiership footballers, I like the comment about socialising with wives and partners wonder was that a dig at the roasters up north..

Very frustrating game. NO MORE 4-5-1 Arsene. Teams just park the bus in the middle and suffocate Fibreglass and Hleb. Wings haven't really been used since Pires left. Would love to see Adebayor given a rest - he's been playing that role non-stop recently. Away to Everton on Sat. Another 1-pointer.

Feel that this festive period is giving us a look at the final table. Utd won't slip up.

Bendter and Van persie up front could be very productive IMHO. The big Scandinavian looks a good player.

Robin van Persie will NOT be fit to return against Everton on Saturday - and William Gallas is a doubt for the weekend trip to Merseyside.

The Dutch striker made his first start for two months against Steaua Bucharest on December 12 after a long-term knee injury and came on as a substitute against Chelsea four days later.

He was sidelined for the north London derby with what was described by Arsene Wenger as a "little muscular problem, but a very minor one". Van Persie was expected to feature at Everton but that is no longer the case. To make matters worse, Gallas suffered an injury against Portsmouth on Boxing Day.

"Van Persie will not play on Saturday," confirmed Wenger after the 0-0 draw at Fratton Park. "We don't know about Gallas yet. He got a kick on his foot late in the first half."

I would like them to start with eduardo and bentner this weekend, i am worried though that we will have senderos playing. If he is we will be lucky to get a point!

In conversation with Dinny on the Chelsea thread I thought this game was akin to Chelsea's visit to Blackburn in Feb 2005 where they got kicked around the placed but fought to earn a 1-0 win. The psyche of the players changed overnight, and the league was won that night in Ewood.

Tonight's game for Arsenal although not as pivotal, will give them a lot of self belief to press on from here.

Definitely. Even when Utd lost earlier today, I was thinking that it was a stroke of luck as Arsenal'd only be 1 behind after a tough festive period. It was a freaky score. Arsenal were absolute shit in the first half. Even though I was hoping Adebayor'd be rested, Bentner showed nowt that he'd be a starter in the future. Again the midfield were lacklustre and blunt. Hleb and Fabregas have lost their pre-injury form.

West Ham at home next - the only away side to win a game of football at the Emirates.
