Have Everton really been mismanaged though (financially I mean) or are they just another victim of not having pockets as deep as the Sheiks, Oligarchs and Rick Yanks? I know how hard Liverpool find it to compete on the wages front, and apart from the odd big deal, on the transfer front. And, no offence intended, Liverpool are a bigger name worldwide than Everton.

I always thought Everton (post 80s) were a well run club, who should be competing for Cups, but didn't have the financial clout to be chasing leagues any more. They should be chasing Europa League at least every year, and Champions League every now and then.

Is there bad management of the club behind the scenes? Aren't they getting a new ground in Liverpool Docks?

Mismanagement mostly in and around the 90's IMO.

Two things happened.

John Moore's death and his poor health to the lead up to it meant that there was no one able to provide money for transfers and then the snake oil salesman Peter Johnson was all bluster and nothing behind it. Think of the Romario bullshit that he tried to pull.

The ban on English clubs in Europe and the impact it had on Everton cannot be understated. They were every bit as good as Liverpool at that time but being denied that shop window meant that they didn't develop that tradition in Europe like they should have and that takes its toll even today. Think how many Scandinavians support Liverpool.

The new stadium is needed badly and hopefully it will happen as this is the third or fourth go at it.

So BFS and the Moyesiah both sacked on the one day?  Coincidence? I think not....the bug eyed boy is coming home!!

quit yo jibbajabba

only thing that would beat this would be if Pards was somehow to get in  ;D

in all seriousness, Moyes and id say even more Sam, will have had some earner out of 6mths plus work, is Sam rumoured to be getting 6mill ie rest of contract paid or something...mind boggling

Taylor

Everton and West Ham need a reality check.

Both teams were relegation fodder earlier in the season and Moyes and Sam kept them up even though the football was hard to watch.

Bet Stoke, West Brom and Swansea would be more than happy to swap places regardless of the style of football

£9m in total. He has created the BFS brand. He will never get the plumb job because he had it and messed up with the England job but he just has to wait for a club to be in diffs around October/November and he can be parachuted in till the end of the summer to be the Premier League Red Adair....fire fighter extraordinaire!! Moyes is laughing all the way too!!

Apparently Marcel Brands of Feynord has been lined up for the director of football role from June 1st

You'd imagine he'll have a say in the appointment of new manager

You're right, but I don't think either club need a reality check. The owners of both clubs would most likely agree with you. But that was then and this is now. Both clubs have bigger notions and neither manager fits their vision of the future.

Any truth in Silva coming in, who relegated Hull and got fired from Watford after half a season?

1st game of pre season saw a comfortable 22-0 win for marco silva's side in his 1st game in charge. It might just have been against atv irdning who play in austrian lower leagues but im still going to get carried away, roll on the new season.  ;)
