Rory Gallagher becomes Donegal selector

Rory Gallagher has taken on the role of county selector with Donegal
Fermanagh player Rory Gallagher's intercounty playing career looks to be over as he has joined the Donegal senior management team for 2011.

He will be Jim McGuinness's number two and it is understood he met with the players on Monday night.

Gallagher, who also played for Cavan, is currently living in Killybegs.

He played for Fermanagh in last year's championship but this appointment as Donegal selector appears to end his county playing career once and for all.

Gallagher won an All-Ireland club medal with St Gall's of Antrim in 2009.

Donegal will play their opening match in the Dr McKenna Cup against Tyrone on Sunday.

So Rory Gallagher has played for a club in Fermanagh, played for Fermanagh, tried to play for Dublin, played for Cavan, played for a club in Antrim, then played for Fermanagh again and now is a selector for Donegal?

He doesnt like to keep still for too long - is he on the run?
That was never a square ball!!

How can he play for St Galls (and why) if he lives in Killybegs?  What does he work at?

I think he (or maybe his wife) is involved in a supermarket in Killybegs

You forgot played for a club in Dublin (St Brigid's) and a club in Cavan (Crosserlough)

He couldn't join another club after the All Ireland final as the date for transferring was in January of that year and we played to March 17th

though i though with moving Counties to live that this was possible

His playing for St.Galls last year was a pure farce as everyone knew he was living in Killybegs for the previous 6 months. His brother lives in Armagh and still plays for Galls.
Gallagher will be a decent addition for Donegal I think. He was an intelligent player (if not a great one) and will bring much needed attacking nouse to the setup.

The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open
