Silva's penalty was ridiculous. It was a pass back to the goalie - hard to fathom what he was at there.

The family name may cloud judgement there...

Against Madrid last year he did take away a lot of attention so while he didn't score he served a purpose but he was very poor last night - city borderline a man down. The previous game Rudiger was like Ryan McMenamim on him but I don't even think he marked him last night and he didn't even have that much attention. Haaland very low in confidence.

Quote from: Captain Scarlet on April 18, 2024, 11:21:34 AMI know it's easy to say the best team lost but the concentration levels from Madrid were amazing. And then when it was needed they had lads like Nacho and especially Rudiger jumping in.

City tried to pull them around but it's not like Palace and their low block, these boys were not for turning. Also in the extra time Real did fire a few warning shots to keep City honest.

Truth be told I don't like Pep as he just seems like a flase hoor.

To defend against that quality of player under that much pressure for so long and to not make any mistakes is hugely impressive. Carvahal and Rudiger are boys you would want in the trenches - they'd do well in GAA them boys. City were better but like someone said they didn't really create the chances.

The thing as well is City can completely change the type of threat they have -e.g. Doku on for Grealish going from someone who cuts inside to sheer pace - yet they still dealt with it.

Haaland was non existent too. Absolutely non existent.

It doesn't paint him in a good light at all. Not fair on your man Bogue who seems like a decent enough sort tbf to him.

I'd agree with what you say on the ruining of football southofthebann. People keep referring back to the dublin semi final but that was one game and if you look at 2012 donegal played some fantastic football. You could see he was all for defending in numbers and then break en masse at pace but they didn't have the fitness yet in 2011 to do the break at pace. The fitness you need to play that game is just not going to be achieved by most teams so you'll just see the defend in numbers and the last bit won't happen. That's not his fault.

what's the point in putting rates that high. You will just put people out of business and then no one will be able to afford your rates. Any wonder that the "high street" is dying.

Awful. RIP. That Kevin Bell charity is fantastic and you would assume would help here - those people are saints. Unfortunately it feels like you're reading about people needing them all too often these days   :(

All at it. 16 corners to nil shows the dominance here. Still might not win but Madrid creating nothing so would likely take penalties.

Quote from: bennydorano on April 17, 2024, 07:13:02 PM2 time penalty Kick champs, Fact. Vinny Corey had the decency to acknowledge it after Monaghan beat Armagh. Derry got the cups* tho.

It wasn't penalties they beat Donegal on though?

I tend to not mind grealish but he is at a right bit of diving tonight.

I saw its draw earlier on twitter. Derry won't play Tyrone.

Quote from: Armagh18 on April 17, 2024, 03:13:10 PMWithout getting into the penalties argument. Still think if Derry were to beat us in normal/extra time it signifies a step back. If Derry have improved so much then why havent we? And if Donegal were to leapfrog us then thats a poor reflection for a team in really the first year of its rebuild.

Tbh though Derry had significant upheaval going into that game last year. I would say Derry are a bit (good bit) ahead of where Armagh are. Derry are in the top 3 counties but Armagh aren't and weren't. I am not convinced that Armagh would have been as close to them had the circumstances been normal - will never know granted.

If Armagh beat Derry in normal time they've improved massively.

(Not a derry person!)
