Can't see these group stages generating any excitement. It's going to be a long slow death for a plethora of teams.

I think all this complaining of GAAGO is a Red Herring. What do the public want? A free meal? There will always be a auld Buck with no internet, no credit card or no smart TV. If you are so concerned about them then invite them over and sort them out. There is a cohort who will always complain about access to coverage.

Personally, I think Hurling gets far to much coverage on Terrestrial TV in relation to it's nationwide popularity. The way Sean Og O'Halpin talks it's as if the whole country has been dis-enfranchised by not showing the Munster Hurling Championship.

Ulster not as strong as it has been hyped up to be. Both Derry and Cavan put to the sword, and believe me both Galway and Mayo are no great shakes.

That is virtually the end of Derry's season. Finishing 2nd or 3rd is a disaster in the group stage. The system is set up to punish teams finishing in this position by not giving them enough time to recover to play the teams who finish top of the groups.

GAA Discussion / Re: Seconds teams

Sport is about patriation. If you want a sub-bench with as many in the Dugout as in the stand, well you've lost the whole meaning of having a club.

There will always be great members who are not great players who should have an avenue to play football for their club.

Second teams also provide an avenue for players to progress to the Senior team and for Senior players on the slide to continue playing into their elder years.

Quote from: Rossfan on May 18, 2024, 11:31:16 AMWell done lads. Good and bad in parts, got the goals at the right times, defended well.
Galway a limited enough outfit. Mayowestros will be a big step up.
Hopefully the revenge factor will motivate and we can keep Kobe quiet as well.

I'd be more worried about Evan Walsh.

Quote from: seafoid on May 12, 2024, 03:22:21 PM42 wins in a row
14 titles in a row.

"Thoroughly enjoyable win.
Time for the Meaths and Kildares to get up to Dublin's pitch" says John Casey

If a small county like Louth can run the Dubs as close then Meath and Kildare should be able to do the same.

Louth population 139,703
Mayo population 137,970

Louth is not a small county.....

Quote from: Captain Obvious on May 16, 2024, 03:54:33 PMCan anyone from Dublin tell me why CiarĂ¡n Archer who would be around 24 now hasn't made the step up to Dublin senior team and is he even on the panel at the moment?

Former Dublin star Ciaran Archer has proposed 96-week ban overturned

Quote from: seafoid on May 13, 2024, 09:20:51 PMDublin needs to be split into as many counties needed to get the leinster championship competitive again

Would you do the same with Kerry to make Munster competitive?

Quote from: Hound on May 13, 2024, 09:06:01 PMYep, that's why Monaghan are unbeatable at Clones,  Mayo unbeatable at Castlebar, etc.
Or is it only Croke Park where home advantage counts?
15 times a year 😁

Totally agree that no Leinster quarters or semis should be played in Croke Park, but that's Leinster Council

In nearly 14 years Dublin have lost only 4 Championship games at home.

Mayo 2012
Donegal 2014
Mayo 2021
Kerry 2022

Quote from: Blowitupref on May 12, 2024, 02:32:41 PMAll-Ireland B semi final result. Winning score deep into added time.

Down 2-10 Mayo 0-15

Thank god for that. Don't know what the point of this competition is?

U20 is development, grade the more matches the better for players. And will be B and C grade competitions in the All Ireland series at U17/minor this year.

Grand, then play the squad players in the B competition.

I was at the Westmeath/Laois Leinster Final Replay in 2004. The GAA and the media lamented the attendance of 38,300. This could not happen again - Dublin had to be made stronger to put bums on seats in the new Croke Park.

The rest is a success story - for Dublin.
