couldnt have summed it up any better. all the mcclean knockers on here should be ashamed of themselves and theres plenty of our fellow posters who couldnt wait to come on and join with the DUP and the tory press in condeming him.
Would you have the same view if some Ulster rugby players turned their back when Amhrán Na bhFiann is played

Would be uproar ffs... But on columnist might say... Fair f**ks to the Ulster lad as he grew up..... No wait

You guys do mean the 6 counties yes?  And not the loyalist 'Ulster'? If Tommy Bowes for example turned away you'd assume he was getting annoyed by fly buzzing around his hand or the like

As a netural at the game, Dick dived and the contact wasn't enough to go down as he did. On top of that he exaggerated the extent of his injury to waste time. Happens all the time but just pointing it out. I have no bias whatsoever.

Donegal done the same twice in the last 10 mins of the Ulster semi in Clones.  It's part of the craic.  That's one of the main reasons the clock should be stopped for injuries a la rugby union

I don't think a thread like this will do anything to help them

Absolutely.  I'm sure there's good men and women working tirelessly to keep them going.  Starting a thread to name and point fingers at their current status is fairly low

After all the giving out and criticism of the referee by the lads on the Sunday Game they didn't think it worth while to mention the kick on Micheál Lundy which should have been a straight red for Eoin Bradley?

They didnt show murphys body check on Mcmanus. They didnt show Byran Sheehan's possible black card. They don't get everything but the point was well made - Lane was shocking.

I agree that he gave a lot of soft frees in the game. To both sides. Unfortunately the frees Derry conceded tended to be a lot closer to the posts. Not like he wasn't giving frees to Derry. They had 3 more in the first half alone than Galway did. Black card was an awful decision. Kick on Lundy. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he just didn't see it.

Galway conceded 26 frees whilst Derry conceded 18. I agree the ref was giving soft frees for both teams but that is been completely ignored on here. Galway had the cop on to realise the ref was blowing for everything and were more careful with their tackles in their own half whilst Derry lacked any sort of discipline.

After going 3 points down early on Galway out scored Derry 1-11 to 0-4 points in the next 55 minutes.

These are games we'd have lost under in previous years. Plenty of positives to take to the Donegal game.

That's mighty magnanimous of ye agreeing with a fellow Galway man.  Nothing other the absolute ineptitude and bias is being discussed,  the total foul count is being ignored by everyone but yourself because it means absolutely nothing.

I've said my peace on it.  Never like talking too much about refs (I reffed myself)  but Lanes performance knocked me over the edge

For Galway to have any chance against Donegal they'll needy start learning how to score from out around the 45.  With the wind on Sat I don't think they even attempted a long range point (I suppose in hindsight they didn't have to)

A pic paints a 1000 words...doesn't mean they are the right ones.

Don't go getting in the way of the hate item of the moment.  The internet will crash

Brolly called out JO'D in the first Kerry v Cork match for going to ground holding his face. More pundits should do this. Shields was an embarrassment last night. They should be held out for ridicule by the pundits on the live show and on TSG. Them McHugh boys would crop up a time or two making their aul fella a bit uncomfortable. How many McHugh's are there? On a windy day in Kilcar the streets must we strewn with McHughs who felt a a slight touch.

The game doesn't need this shyte. Embarrass the bejaysus out of them and they will soon quit.

Comedy gold!

Agreed

Great to get the win yesterday, bad game but a win is a win. A lot being said about the referee's performance, yes he was bad and we caught a few soft frees but I don't think he lost the match for Derry like Brian McIver has said.

Points handed to Galway on a plate in the first half along the 13m / 20m line.  Ones further a field being brought into a kick able length (Galway didn't have any man willing or able to hit a point from beyond the 20m line)  so this suited them well

A stone wall penalty not given resulting in a Galway goal second later.  That's a massive swing

The black  card. Derry players being called for over carrying and Galway players not

Lane had a huge baring on the result.  All in all maybe the most one sided / unfair bit of officiating I've ever witnessed. The derry players deserved better.  Any team deserves better than that.

Not quite sure how only 3 mins can be added when Beggan was down for over 3 mins one occasion.

Better team won. But I'd still wager Donegal get further in the AI.
[/b]

I don't know.  Donegal didn't fire in the semi or final.  The next game they'll have to prove they still have the fire in the belly

Clerkin  taken down.  Why didn't monaghan all mill in with the handbags and kill a few minutes a la Donegal?

Donegal could rob this one!

There's a lot to be said for a man throwing himself to the ground when touched.  I'd say refs give a free 80%  of the time.  It's a no brained really

Derry do not deserve to progress. with the gael force wind and playing with two or three forwards. Case closed. Dumb

hardly the point - you'll see bad refs making bad decisions on both teams but this has been different. Derry have been raped

Ah now we're racketing up the rhetoric. I'm sure Hitler or Stalin will get a mention soon.

Nothing to do with not scoring for 30 minutes or anything.

You're the forum equivalent of Lane

Brolly fairly accurate on Kieran Hughes http://t.co/jp9KILHCa1

He wants K Hughes to learn from the likes of the Gooch? Sure he thinks the Gooch is a 'choker'
