Anyone any good advice for brands of Ride on Lawn mowers? What to avoid? Also does anyone know anywhere in NI that might do good 2nd hand ones?

If you've a few quid and a decent quality, level lawn the cylinder mowers are supposed to be much better than the typical rotary types.

Giving a dry week and to be honest i am tempted to run the mower of the lawn as there was a right bit of growth early winter.
I suppose frost would be still the only thing that would be stopping me from doing this but i have noticed some people have cut there lawns already. Anybody else considering it.

ya i think I'm going to cut it this evening, its a mess, I'm not so worried about the frost, but I'll have to see if the ground is dry enough if its too wet the mower will  leave ruts.

I've a mount field and it's fine but it's important to get it services annually. Go for the type that blows the grass direct to the grass box rather than the type that has the tube feed along the side if you understand me.

1st cut done today. Have a ride on and it makes mowing the lawn enjoyable.
Go for a hydrostatic one as they are the way to go.
Bought a new one 9 years ago and its as good as the day I bought it.
Buy new if you can.
next stop, September 10, for number 4......

Couldn't find an image of mine, but it's similar to this.

18 HP and 102" cut, twin blade. Rear discharge and a pull of the handle empties the box.

I dump the grass on a bit of old ground and never have to get off the mower from start to finish.

I found with using the ride on that the grass need to be bone dry otherwise you are having to take the box off to clear inside. But they are some job and I look forward to cutting the grass. Something I didn't do with the petrol mower.

The deal in our house is I go round the edge of the garden with a push mower to make it easier for the young lad to follow behind with the ride on. It's the only exercise I get
