MISSING PERSON

Answers to the name Syferus.
Known to have a disdain for Ulster football, Tyrone, Mickey Harte, Andy Moran, Ballaghaderreen etc.
May refer to Tyrone v Roscommon as a grudge match.

Missing since 5pm yesterday.
The Monaghan lads will back me up on this. A number of prominent Throne posters disappeared after the county lost 2 league maches in a row.
Syf would have to be gone for a month to be remotely comparable.

which posters?

Surely you must be worried now given how The second best team in the province preformed? Real possibility Galway could get a beating the day which would cast huge doubt on the quality of football in Connaught.

Game over a long time ago. I'm sure Roscommon fans will be gutted at the extent of the defeat and I'd feel for then as we were all unsure where the teams were at before this. Unfortunately I think it's still hard to see where Tyrone are at as RC were that poor.

The super 8s will be interesting this year and for the next 2-3 years but it'll become repetitive after that and we'll realise that like the qualifiers before it, it mainly benefits the stronger counties

The reason we won't get as bored with this is because unlike the Qualifiers there shouldn't be as many complete mismatches. The chaff should be out by then and you'd expect most years 6+ of the teams in the super 8 are the best teams in the country. While I certainly see an argument that this now makes Dublin not winning even more unlikely as if they do get caught they need to be beat twice or three times in one year to lose out, I actually think the reverse is more true and perhaps the teams from 3-8 might get stronger from having more huge games at this time of the year.

The reality for the last 4 years has been everyone apart from Dublin, Kerry and Mayo can look brilliant all summer but then get one game against a really top side and they're caught like rabbits in the headlights. Look at Tyrone, Monaghan and Galway last year FFS. All 3 teams looked to be going somewhere, met teams that level ahead of them and that set them back big time, who knows what damage that might have done had the Super 8 not been here as a carrot this summer. At least this time those type of teams will have their game against a really top side (generally Kerry or Dublin depending on which group they're in) and then two games against sides that they should be competitive in while being really tough games. My hope is that this process will bring on those aforementioned teams as well as Donegal, Kildare and the Rossies this year.

The big question is for the foreseeable future how likely is it that Dublin will lose two games in a Championship season of eight??

Time will tell but one coukd see a situation where the weakest team in each group  takes  3 tankings..... guess only one way to find out how evenly balanced the final 8 teams are

I can't see any of the teams taking a tanking unless from Dublin. Not convinced Kerry are as good as they are being made out (Still the next best tho). And the rest I think could beat or be beat on any given day.

Wheres this majority u keep talking about! I been hearing this line for 15yrs and still unionist hold a bigger % and will do for the next 30yrs by which i be long gone; so the ui talk doesnt really hold much sway for me as in the present day health sevice a mess; education  at tipping point but hey lets all talk about a ui! Maybe if u look at voting patterns nearly 35-40% dont vote cause they give up on clowns talking about a ui and flags/bonfires and marches!!

haha such a load of crap. I'll just take the most gaping load of crap though which is your final line.

In the 2016 General Election in Ireland turnout was 65%
In the 2017 UK General Election turnout was 68%
In the 2017 NI Assembly Election turnout was 65%

Brexit was slightly higher with 72% but within NI turnout was 63%

So it would seem that people choosing to vote/abstain isn't based on whether they think the politicians are clowns who just shout about flags or the UI. That's a pretty standard turnout for most western elections.

You're very slow at the auld typing.

lads thinking of going to dubai in october for 5 nights, what area would yous recommend?have been looking at hotels and can be a big price difference and going by what i can read maninly looks like the beach or town area as best options, anyone been and what did they think, still undecided on it or new york.

Went to Dubai on the honeymoon years ago. Stayed in the town area as we were then going on to a beach holiday afterwards. We stayed in the Hilton and it was fantastic but would have preferred the beach area on hindsight.

I would fancy Donegal in the Hyde as the most winnable. Might be way off but thats my opinion before a ball in thrown in

It's hard to know with Donegal. The McBearty loss would most likely scupper any realistic hopes they had of winning the whole thing. But I still think there's a kick in them somewhere. They have a good young team coming through, they've just lifted Ulster again and their tails were up prior to the injury news.
I honestly don't think there's much between Donegal, Roscommon and Tyrone and wouldn't be overly surprised if they all win one each. If forced to rate them I'd prob have Donegal, then Tyrone and then Roscommon. But with little in-between.

Good to see the Rossies beat Armagh and make the super 8's. A loss here isn't the end of the world for either team as there's a decent chance that Roscommon, Tyrone & Donegal will win one game each given the way the fixtures gave worked out.

I'd like to think Roscommon's forwards have learnt from the Galway game but then again Tyrone will have learnt from Galway's first half horror show. I expect Tyrone to win but it won't be a shock if they don't. I just don't know where this Tyrone team are at.
Let's be honest the only horror show in that game was Roscommon shooting or should i say shot selection in the 2nd half. Was nothing horror about Galway's 1st half, Roscommon just played the better football in that half and deserved their lead.

Roscommon shot selection was truly awful for Galway game
They are in bonus territory now. can go out on Sat, enjoy the game hopefully win

Do you think so? I would have said the opposite for both teams. Both last years provincial winners, who lost out this year. I think a bad performance in the S8 will show clear regression.

A take so bad it needs to be quoted. Tyrone have already regressed from last year, btw.

Great reasoning and explanation as always Syferus. You're posts are always full of sh!te facts

Mickey is probably searching Facebook for our players' wives and girlfriends names as we speak.

Mickey is a devout Catholic and a fantastic ambassador to the game.

He can be as devout as he likes but no one outside of Tyrone buys his sanctimony when he's sending out cynical and dirty teams who essentially revolutionised sledging as much as they did defensive tactics. Sport isn't a special case where rules of decency are not applied or can be ignored.

If Mickey really cared about what was right he would have stopped his players acting like playground bullies on the field a decade and a half ago.

Lol, Was thinking it wouldn't take long. I just hope the sane Roscommon supporters don't start making up untrue allegations and broadcasting their (OK maybe just one) opinions as if they were fact again.

Looks like we might see Bradley on the bench.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/gaelic-games/44719876

I'd go with the following for Saturday:

Morgan
Hampsey
McNamee
McKernan
McCann
Burns
Harte
Colm
McClure
Meyler
Sludden
Donnelly
RoNeill
McAliskey
R Donnelly/McShane

Think either Ritchy of McShane could be under pressure to hold their place. Surely we have to get more natural forwards on the pitch? Can see Ronan getting a start especially now that Bradley is available to get some game time off the bench.
I'm expecting to see Morgan reinstated in goal and to keep his place for the rest of the year if we get through. I saw trileacman a couple of pages back on this board say about Morgan 'his weekly clangers deny himself and the fullback line of any confidence.' Maybe something has slipped my mind but has Morgan ever made a clanger costing us a goal? I think he is a far more reliable keeper than O'Neill and the only complaint I have with him is that he continues to come up for frees although even this obviously comes from management instruction.

Cost us a goal against Dublin in the league when the game was very much in the balance with a foray outfield. Really what I'm referring to is his short kick outs not finding their man. I'd safely say in the last 3 years of matches against division 1 opposition I'd find a clear example in every game of a point conceeded with a loose kickout. Add that to the fact that he's too small to dominant the aerial ball into the square and he doesn't save many goalward bound shots then I don't really rate him. He's actually a poorer shot stopper than O'Neill the only reason it's not common knowledge is that Tyrone's defence allows such few goal scoring opportunities. We really only allow 1 goal scoring opportunity to arise in a match and I'd say Morgan concedes 90% of those shots at him.

The lack of an aerial presence I can forgive but in the modern game it's his inconsistency with kick outs that make him a b-rate keeper. In his defence it has to be said that the lack of decent high fielders in the Tyrone squad means that when teams push up and rule out the short kick out he's left with practically no good options.

God it's weird how different people see things differently. I would have said that Morgan's kickouts are relatively strong. Certainly I'd be much more confident of him over O'Neill. I actually rate Morgan and definitely think he's Tyrone's strongest option in nets and actually for the size of him I'd rate him over O'Neill in the air as well. I'd be more than happy with him in there going forward and think he'll get stronger. With regards to the frees, I'd definitely limit his input there. I know we're not strong here anyway and I'd say it's a case of, needs must with him. But I'd rather see us taking some of the long range frees short (And Quickly, Not waiting and looking around to see what's happening and allowing the opposition to get men back). But other than that, happy with Morgan and always have been.

Cheers for that. I was going to be moving my old plate onto the new car anyway so thought if there's a way of just putting the reg onto a certificate and then leaving it with one of the selling companies to try and get the money for it. But might be more hassle than it's worth then. The reg doesn't have any connection with me which is why I was going to sell it.

Not so much a problem as such, But I have a Reg on my old vehicle that I want to transfer over onto my new car. However the new car has a private plate so I wanted to move it onto a certificate and then sell it. It's been valued at £400.

Does anyone know do I have to do this in two stages? (Move the private plate onto a certificate first and get the replacement reg/ V5 before moving the plate of my old car onto my new car). Or can it be done all in the one move i.e - request the private plate to be moved onto a certificate and my old reg onto my new car all together in the one move (And the one £80 payment!!).

Not sure if I'm explaining myself right!!  :-\
