Anyone got a link to this once great site, I had in my favourites but it seems to be inactive. It was a great archive site with some great articles. Is the owner a member here?
There you go (http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.gaelicgazette.com)
I got an e mail from the owner a couple years ago explaining that he wouldn't be able to up date the site against due to a personal tragedy. He said it would be left until the provider shut it down. It looks like it has now been shut. O'Neill copied a load of the good stuff and posted it here a while ago. It was a handy site for anyone doing research.
Yes, it's a great loss. It was run by Richard Behal and was the best collection of GAA material on line, including records, archives and original articles. Richard's family tragedy understandably meant he had other concerns than maintaining a GAA website. We can hope that the material is not lost to posterity and will become available at some time in the future.
It was a very useful archive. It must have taken Richard years to pull all that stuff together. I hope someone has it saved somewhere.
Here, I found all that stuff again. Some brilliant articles. A couple of years ago I got 5 copies printed and bound - they made deadly birthday/Christmas presents for GAA-lovers. I can email anyone a copy. It's a PDF of 1305KB. If you want a copy, email me on osoneill@yahoo.co.uk and i'll send it to you as an attachment. It's 195 pages long.

Pardon my ignorance but what sort of stuff was/is it? It seems good judging by what the comments are (from good, well informed posters) but I don't want to put you through the bother of sending me 195 pages of stuff in case it is wasted on me.
Tis a collection of GAA stories/poems/articles from a range of authors/journos down the years.
Alternatively you can pm me your email address if you don't want me to know your name. Isn't that right
Cassie Stephenite?
Can you send it to me via the email on the Greencastle website? Thanks ONeill
Thanks ONeill
Yes a public thanks
As I said it's a decent idea to stick it onto a memory stick or disc and bring it to some kind of office printer. Get a good hardback cover on it. Doesn't cost much and great to flick though.
Richard Behal abu!
I never received an email from you...
Are you sure you'd co.uk?
Been reading through there for an hour or two, brilliant stuff.
Will certainly try to get it printed and binded.
Thanks a million for this - great stuff in it!! the auld fella is gonna be over the moon!! :)
Good man Shane (Oliver ?? what's that about?). Excellent reading there.
On a slightly related topic, is there any possibility that someone has kept the best bits of gaaboard over the years and could come up with a similar pdf file?
Still remember fondly the 'tractor reversing' thread.
Too many Ulster muppets are ruining it for all I fear.
There plenty of Longford clowns not worth reading too. most of them aren't aware of their derisory status though...
Good work O'Neill - you have done the state some service. It'd be great if you could send it to hardyarse at hotmail dot com.
5 Sams would be delighted to receive a copy at 5samsindown@gmail.com
Thanks in advance
I have 38 requests for the GG material and hopefully they were received. However, I never check my bulk mail and usually delete it immediately. Last week I clicked on it by mistake and saw a few requests. So if you didn't receive a reply from me that's the reason. Post on here if you didn't get one.
BTW, this PDF contains ultra-modern software enabling me to hack into your PC/Laptop to see all files available. I didn't know Hardy's real name was Cynthia and he subscribes to Plumbers Monthly. Shamrock Shore recently entered a Niall-Sheridan Lookalike competition and came second, beaten by George Hook . SaffronSam donates a tenner a month to the Love Ulster organisation and has a picture of Paul Berry as his screensaver.
Thanks O'Neill.
(Can you confirm your address for those items you asked about? I'll wear them for a few days first, as you requested).
Yours,
Cynthia.
Just sent you an email there O Neill. Thanks in advance.
Thanks alot O Neill. Great Stuff!
Top man O'Neill very much appreciated!
Nearly 8 years ago but stumbled across it today. If anyone wants a copy PM me your email address.
