Things must be getting really dicey for them lately, your heart would go out to anyone trying to keep the thing going with the amount of lads moving away at the minute. Must be trojan work.

Definite split in division 3 as many men have mentioned on here, Raymond Monteith mentioned it at county convention a few months ago. You could see there being a 3A and 3B in the near future the way things are going, the gap between the junior contenders and the bottom is widening every year.
This is passed and will come into effect in 2025. Will also encourage more development teams. A positive move for the club scene as Junior football as it stands is dying a death with the big difference top and bottom.

Don't know how it's passed. A change like that would have to be voted by clubs and clubs notified well in advance if mid table clubs want to push on instead of downing tools for championship after a few league defeats.

Sean Cavanagh  ;D  Looking to get himself noticed again.

No one is saying that the likes of a streaming service is not a revenue builder, before streaming we still had reasons to generate money, but some matches like Saturday night with everything on the line for Cork at home against the reigning champions needs viewed free

Is Gaago owned by RTE or the GAA?

Yeah but when you have rights etc involved then the games are scheduled way in advance. Did you know 2 months ago that this match was going to have riding on it what was riding on it?

On a weekend with 2 football finals, the obvious thing was for RTÉ to cover one hurling game on the Saturday and decide closer to the date which one they would cover.

Then the same thing would probably happen another week anyway. Can't really win on this one I don't think.

Quote from: trueblue1234 on Today at 02:35:00 PMT,is nearly as bad as being 4 points up with a quarter of a game to go and somehow throwing it away. How Armagh managed to orgestrate that level of a collapse is remarkable. Surely one of the biggest bottle jobs in Ulster history.

No where near as bad. Ulster title not won with a penalty shootout and up against a favourite Donegal side with their messiah back leading them. Liverpool on the otherhand dropped points against number of sides they should be beating comfortably over the last few weeks.

When Manchester City pick up the league title next weekend Klopp and his players will know it should have been them instead.

Quote from: general_lee on Today at 11:00:56 AMIf there's a silver-lining to yesterday's performance it's that Armagh put on an exhibition on why the attacking mark should be ditched. Such a stupid rule.

Odd take. I think the attacking mark works. I also don't know why you would get rid of it because 2 Armagh players didn't have a shot.
Why does it work? It stops players from taking a man on and the art of 1 v 1 defending in many instances. I think the general concensus would be that the majority would like to see a player take his man on as that is what gets punters off their seats, not someone being able to take a free shot at goal or worse slow down the attack then kick it back.

It does not stop that, you can still take a man on and many teams do. It does stop a man catching a long ball in and getting swamped by 3 defenders and getting turned over.
Any player worth their salt that catches the ball within 30/35 yards is going to take a free shot at the posts in the majority of circumstances.  The only reason you maybe wouldn't if chasing a game looking and need a goal.

Quote from: pbat on Today at 10:55:45 AMThe talk of Jarly Og's mark is a red herring, if Jarly was given a bag of O Neills and stood on that spot in Clones till next Sunday he wouldn't have make that kick. Soup should have had a pop at his , but again he had just missed a similar one so he maybe didnt feel good about it. A wild wide and handing back procession to Patton was not the right option. When Conaty dropped short was a turning point I feel,he should have recycled, maybe bit of inexperience but the lad had a great game other than that and his wide at the last.

Very harsh and don't agree with that at all, Jarly Og is well capable of kicking a ball over the bar from 35-40m on the correct side of the pitch given his kicking style. If that was the case he shouldn't have bothered calling the mark in the first instance. I don't particularly like the rule to begin with but it is there to be taken advantage of where spaces in defence are tight in the closing stages of games.

It's a sad indictment of gaelic football that some people think a ball should be recycled backwards from a shooting position inside the 45m line and that they can't trust a player to have a shot at the posts. Playing the low risk percentages might be part of the reason why we can't see out these matches, its a fear mindset.

I'm not so sure that he is. Jarly óg falls into the category of players we have that IMO are told to not shoot unless it's almost a certainty. You can see it in our build up play.  Quite a few of our lads are not going to attempt to threaten the scoreboard (in certain positions) and I'm sure the opposition know this too.

He's a natural midfielder and was an Allstar nominee 2 years ago along with Soupy. If supporters can't trust top players to take a free kick at goals 35-40 metres out but rather that he kick it backwards then we have simply become conditioned to a risk free, low percentage game. At what point do we roll the dice, when we are 70, 80 or 90% certain of a score. Nobody is criticising Kelly or McPartland this morning for missing big kicks, that's just part of the game. No guts no glory.

I always take the annual third party cover - not expensive.  I had to use it last year in Dubrovnik (rented with Sixt) and it was really straightforward as long as I got all the right reports from Sixt.

I was very annoyed at the cost of the repair work that had to be done (total racket), but that's what the cover is for.  I think someone must have scraped against it when we were parked in a tight public car park in Montenegro.

Have used it somewhere else too (think in Geneva airport).  I don't think I took enough pics with that one - certainly none of the damage has been when I've been in or near the car.  Always got the cost covered.

Ye'll have to do a Kilkenny at this rate Sham.
A Longford acquaintance reckons he should be the manager because
"I could get them relegated to D3 and hammered by Kildare and couldn't charge them for it".

Armagh hadnt scored in the 15 mins before that. And tbh hadn't had many chances that they missed during that period AFAIR either so makes it even more hard to comprehend why they didn't have a go at one of those.

People talking about patience ? If we sit and be patient we will only continue to regress even further . It's clearly obvious that we are getting worse and worse every year and every game that passes.
Our team at the start of the year was weaker than last seasons team . Our team at the moment is even weaker than the start of the year . Our team for next season will be weaker again .
We are progressively getting worse in my opinion year on year . We haven't actually even hit rock bottom yet either ( when Timmo , Lillis , P Kingston , OCarroll all eventually go )
What's coming in is worse than what's going out . There is certain names creeping into the team sheet now regularly that I wouldn't even class as anything more than average club players
On yesterdays game we threw it away badly at the end but tbh over the course of the game Carlow could of easily scored about 6-22 instead of the 2-17 they got . That's a Carlow team that lost 4-19 to 0-8 to a division 4 Wexford team a few weeks ago in the Leinster championship . Carlow have lost the likes of Jordan Morrissey , Shane Clarke and Josh Moore since too to weaken them even further
It's honestly very hard to be positive when all I see in front of me is a constant battle for us to try and keep our heads above water . Division 3 next year could be tough if we aren't careful
