Our lads are kicking at the NFL combine at the moment

Charlie Smyth maybe the pick of them so far. A few misses from Beggan and Jackson

Quote from: Lamh Dhearg Alba on February 04, 2024, 10:29:19 PMFirst half was positive enough for Tyrone. Very young team away against a settled outfit and with the wind against them, missed a couple of easy chances and all of a sudden 5 down and could easily have collapsed. Instead they worked their way back into it and the 3 point half time lead flattered Derry. Second half however was grim, totally lost their heads when the scores didn't come with the wind. You can put that down to lack of experience for sure, but it did happen a couple of times last season too which raises questions.

Overall though there are a number of very good young players who are looking like they can step up and a number of established players to come back in. Get the mix right and there's a right good team in there. Big question for me is do we have the management to pull that off.

Generally agree with that except for what you said about half time score.
I feel Derry could have easily been 8 or 9 ahead at half time. Took points when goals were begging.
Personally couldn't believe we were only 3 in front at half time.
Tyrone should have had a goal, good save from a shot that was saveable but a better forward would have nailed it.

Just watched the highlights and the glass goal did look deliberate. However, in real time it was a shot for a point I think and the wind caught it.

Conor said in post game interview on tg4 that it was a fluke

Quote from: CitySlicker11 on January 31, 2024, 09:27:49 AMPalermo or Catania, would anyone recommend one over the other?

As a flight or as a city?
Catania is small enough and relatively quiet, you can get days trips to Mt Etna, only approved guides can bring you up to the volcanic areas. Taormina is also a feasible day trip.
The old city in Othigia, in Syracuse is lovely and much featured in films. You could go there from Catania for the day, it is a big hour in the train, or stay there.

Palermo is a bigger busier place, not always "pretty" but a definite buzz about the place and plenty of restaurants etc.

I remember this chat from last year

Have been numerous times and travelled throughout the island

Would agree with a lot of what armaghniac has said. I definitely prefer Palermo over Catania, a lot more going and more to see and do.

Syracuse, and especially the old town Ortigia, is our favourite spot, could spend, and have spent,  days wandering the old streets.

Would recommend Taormina as well. Could easily spend a few days here. The town itself is beautiful, and you can go down to the beaches at isola Bella, naxos or letojanni. And I'd definitely go on up the mountain to the village of Castelmola, beautiful hilltop vilage

There is a crazy amount of talent in Tyrone at the minute, but I get what you are saving Tyrone12345, it might take a few years to get a team together
I'd hope though in the next 3 or 4 years Tyrone would be right at the top challenging for honours again
