Triffic appointment by Tottenham. Tim Sherwood is a proper football man and the players will respect him, unlike with Villas Boas.

Who would you respect more? Somebody who never played the game at any level and got their knowledge of football from reading books, Zonal Marking and Jonathan Wilson articles, or a Premier League-winning captain?

Expect Tottenham to abandon the boring, dour, fearful, negative hoofball of the continental man and return to their traditional, exciting, attractive, attacking, technically focussed passing game under the Englishman.

Exactly how many great managers were great or even good players?

It's the people who have the aptitude (and passion) for managing that have had success. It has all of nothing to do with them playing at a high level or not. If what you said even contributed in the least to Spurs making him the semi-permanent manager they are a total and utter joke shop.

Bob Paisley played 277 games for Liverpool and won the League title in 1947. He may have been no Stanley Matthews, but he was no Jose Mourinho either. On any level.
