Title: USPGA 2019
Post by: Boycey on May 15, 2019, 11:32:28 AM
A new date for this brings us a major in May at the frightening Bethpage Black. Most of the main protagonists are in good form bar Speith but he's tempting at 40/1 as surely he's due a return to form.

4 of our boys in the field McIlroy, Lowry, GMac and Padraig

Looking like a tough set up, of 78 players on course only 14 are under par.

Brooks flying

p***k!! He always ruins it . . .

I actually don't mind him except the fact that I never bet him when he wins!! Have J Day/Rahm/Oosthuizen this time which is very different from my regular Rory/Spieth bet but that's been a busted flush for a while now.

4 ahead of the field after one round in a major, and he left a few out there

Brutal stuff from Rory. Plays great golf in nearly every tournament all yr and then turns into a club golfer for the majors. The absolute opposite of Koepka

Birdies 4 of the last 6 to make the cut (well 99% certain to make the cut)

For all the talk of how good this generation of golfers is Koepka is blowing them all away... Tiger esque really he's been phenomenal hard to see anyone bridging the gap or to see Brooks come back the field.

It'll make for a boring tournament but that's the fields fault and certainly not Koepka's!

Rory always rips it up when the pressure is off, he's a total bottle job in a fight  ;)

It was definitely poor value given he was 10/1 in many bookies before the off this week. So he'll be down $250 if he wins 😉

Yes, all the leaders fell apart and he sprinted past them at the end without even realising it. Every other sunday he collapses like a wet rag. His head is so messed up that when he's a proper battle he falls apart  :P

I agree, his Sunday collapses are becoming more n more common.  Then when the pressure is off he's hitting 65s!!

Lessons? What performance enhancers would benefit golfers?

He's taking the rest of the field for mugs!
He comes across as a great guy. Did it the hard way. Has a Caddie from NI Ricky Elliott. They look a great team. I'm looking forward to seeing him up close at the Open in Portrush.

With Koepka in the sort of form he's in and a caddy who knows every blade of grass on the course, he has to be a good shout for the British Open?

The only thing that he could possibly be taking would be the CBD oil which can aid focus and concentration???

I don't even think that there's a chance. He seems very square if anything. Bubba is flirting with some CBD companies but with so much on the line if you end up testing positive for THC due to a poorly refined CBD product you'd be fecked with the Tour doping/drugs policy. Marijuana is still (unfortunately and ridiculously) a schedule I drug.

Honestly the CBD craze still hasn't convinced me yet. I've used it for a little joint pain as has my mum when shes over here but I am not sure if its placebo or real.

I think the original question suggested he was taking something for his physicality. Compared to the traditional golf build, the guy is a beast - but compared to many young American men his age he isn't big at all. The Americans start lifting weights in high school, which was pretty much unheard of when I was in school in Ireland. Big build is a large part of their psyche over here and while many meatheads use steroids to achieve ridiculous sizes - this fella is just a big lad who is very well built.
