What structures have Monaghan in place that has them successful?

Laois problem is the county is split 50/50 in terms of football and hurling and on top of that half the population is in Portlaoise and there's only 1 club there

Agree totally with Butch.......Not enough quality out of our major towns also.....Portlaoise have slipped a bit,Portarlington,Mountmellick

Well now if half the county is hurling and half  what's left is only  supplying  2 or 3 players its no great mystery why we're so low at the moment and if the  U15 panel is anything to go by its only going to get worse.
A huge effort is needed by the CB in Portlaoise, Port, Mountmellick Greaguecullen these towns have the numbers, they have bodies what is needed is the will and the effort to turn them into footballers.
you seem to be obsessed with this panel, can only speak for my own club port but over the last few years we've been well represented  on the underage county panels it hasnt worked its way up to the senior squad yet but hopefully it will.

Last night shows how important quigley,Timmons,o Loughlin, o Carroll,Meredith etc are and the gulf in class between are first 15 and new guys. Also would love if the manager asked Brody to stay in his goals, it totally slows down the play and is an accident waiting to happen

Hardly madness think it's the best possible move for barrow house if the three clubs eventually do join up,I presume they will be weak enough at underage level but it's a start.Think ballylinan will suffer but maybe they have enough numbers and wanted to go by themselves, Joseph's get what they deserve...

Can understand most of these clubs joining up but not mountmellick they usually have a strong panel and will prob lose a lot of their fringe players now.wouldnt be the greatest fan of these amalgamations anyway, seem to be a quick fix to a much bigger problem, clubs should concentrate more on improving their juvenile standards .Also maybe I'm mistaken but I taught clonaslee and annonough didn't get on

Well if you look  at Division 3a in football stradbally and portlaoise pulled out before it began, spink only played when the ballinakill lads wanted a break from the hurling and even then they only had a scrap team, port not much better, leaving barrowhouse and kilcavan (2 intermediate teams) with only proper matches against each other. And if you look at 5a in the hurling majority of walkovers were by teams who pulled out from the start. In general throughout all leagues there was less walkovers and more competitive matches in the hurling than the football
. In fairness port only conceded one game ,beat barrow house at home and just lost out on promotion

Timahoe and the Heath seems strange to me,the Heath won the league this year and because of a near relegation experience they now decide they need to join. While joes voted down joining up with barrow house it looks like they are going to poach their best player which will surely destroy this small club.To me all these amalgamations are a quick fix with no long term benefit ,maybe clubs should follow the stradbally mould and just put in a big effort next year

The umpires also seemed to indicate that it was an accidental collision and conroy seemed angry about play continuing yet he wasn't to worried when plaois were in possession firstly

Very enjoyable game yesterday with a great crowd. plaois just couldn't put stradbally away, twice they went a couple of scores up but just couldn't kill it off ,stradbally kicked some wonderful long range points in the first half which surprisingly plaois were unable to do.While talk of this being the end of portlaois is premature ,yday showed how heavily they rely on Bruno and Zach ,and that some of there older players naturally are starting to lose that bit of pace and maybe hunger.Hopefully this may be the end of the talk about amalgamations, stradbally showed what can be achieved with some guts and belief and how special it is when you win it with your own club

With new rules kicking in as in under 17s no longer allowed play, county minors ineligible till out of championship and being so early in the year I can see a lot of teams struggling to field. Is there any reason for it beginning so early this year

That backline you named only has two natural defenders in seale and Timmons , to compete with the top teams we need too find the next cahir Healys but are there any.Begley, strong and the likes are all great footballers but a bit loose and attack-minded  to accommodate them all in the same defence.

Could kileen not just sign another few players and stay senior by themselves  , but if they did join with barrow house does that mean the St joes/barrowhouse underage team is finished.I will prob be shot down for saying this but I think there is way too many amalgamations underage instead of clubs making more of an effort to properly coach their young players and bring in proper underage structures .

No real relegation this year as bottom four go into 1b next year with top four from division 2.The graig results are strange does anyone know what's happening with them, have they list slot of players.Heard birdy isn't playing anymore which would be a massive loss for them

If it's match I think your talking about mass brawl is greatly exaggerated(4 players max)a spectator did get involved  and I hope county board give him a lengthy suspension
