Corn02 - The statement was made that the players who left were either 1- not committed enough, or 2 - not good enough. i simply asked who was which.

I know that they all walked. so, it seems, does everyone else bar your good self. maybe you have a link to a championship squad announcement or an article stipulating "exclusions"? you're even suggesting McKeever was dropped?
#2539

obviously there would have to have been a cut. you are missng the whole point. all of these guys walked meaning that the panel is now made up of those who did not walk, rather than those wha have been chosen

well you can review all your "dropped" categorizations. I have it on good authority that not one player has been droped from the armagh squad in 2009.

Can't make my mind up on daniels. he comes across the upstanding, straight down the line poelease but....

First couple of series McNulty was the heroe if there was one but as you got to know him his star faded.

loved the bubs character. we really got to know him and got inside his head.

would rte, bbc or channel 4 invest in a program like this which is based upon the intricicies and interaction of people? no chance. fair play to HBO

Id expect championship attendances to be well down this summer - even the armagh - tyrone game. they'll probably still get close to their 33,000 for this game charging the full whack and that'll justify not dropping prices for the whole championship

When people stop comparing Enda Mc Nulty, Francie Bellew and Ciaran Mc keever as footballers to Peter Canavan, i will return to the board.  In the meantime, I feel the board has lost all reason and sense so Im quitting.

From what i've read from you, the board will be a better place. people like you, who cannot appreciate defending as a skillful equal to attacking play, are becoming more and more common.

:D Maybe I got carried away a bit. McNulty seemed to up it more in the physical stakes when playing Canavan, whereas McKeever didn't. McKeever knew he could get the better than Canavan in footballing terms, likewise that Canavan knew he could get the better of him.

That's nonsense. McKeever fared well in their encounters and probably broke even or maybe a bit better overall. McNulty dominated Canavan almost every time - by whatever means.

The planning requirements in terms of parking will be a huge consideration for any prospective new stadium. In global terms this can frequently be the biggest hurdle for urban sites. citing existing grounds and their parking quirkes is missing the reality that these were not subject to anything approaching modern planning regulations when they were established.

Armagh / Re: Armagh Club football & hurling

I havn't got to see much club football in recent years so can only judge toal on county performances. have to say i've never seen the well hyped ability in a county jersey. neat and tidy with the ball certainly, and maybe the potential is there for more. there are quite a few better forwards there at the minute and obviously a whole lot more willing to put in the work.

New Armagh poster to this forum so apologies if i don't hit the ground running. have heard a lot about the place and on first viewing i have to say its not as negative and critical as i expected! i'm an avid follower of the county for more than 40 years - challenge, league and championship.

Regarding armagh, i would be anxious over the direction the team is taking at the minute and i feel we are carrying quite a few passengers. in the league this year, only the form of a crucial 3 or 4 has consistently kept the head above water. there is a lot of work to be done to carry a threat to tyrone in may.

The most alarming thing to me is that the armagh management appear to want to mirror the tyrone style of play despite that, in my view, not emphasizing our own county's strengths. much of the football is short, laboured and indirect.

I'm also alarmed at the deterioration over the last two season of armagh's capacity to win ball in the middle third and defensive capabilities of our defensive unit. is this down to coaching? i do think there was been more variety introduced into the forward play and arguably armagh are less predictable in that department.

Going forward and looking towards making strides in the championship, i'd like to see something along the lines of the following for cork

McEvoy, Mallon, McKeever, Donaghy, an other, o'rourke, kernan, toner and vernon, o'rourke, an other, McKenna, McDonnell, Clarke, Mallon.

looking at how the forward line has been set up, it seems the 11 is dropping into midfield looking to win ball and service the full forward line - a bit like john mcentee played, with McDonnell dropping out an functioning as a centre forward. for that type of 11 we need a strong ball winner who can see and pass well. i'm not sure o'rourke (who has been doing this role) has the final quality on his passing and is needed at wing forward for his workrate in any case. steven kernan is an uncomfrotable solution, as are mcdonnell and mallon. so i don't know really.

we also need a wing back - preferebly a defensively competent one given kernan on the other wing. some of those who have been looked at extensively to date don't cut the mustard for me. on both an others i don'tthink management have looked hard enough at viable alternatives. could donnelly do a job a wing back. kas always seemed defensively suspect to me but not sure.
