Get over it you tube accept the fact your county team is of a very poor standard and your neighbours have 3 all irelands. Clowns like you make a laughing stock of Armagh people.  This thread is not about the quality of club football in Tyrone but says more about the petty jealousy of the individual who started it. Boring.

Would you ever cop urself on. 3 all Ireland has nothing to do with it, it's already being mentioned by me in my opening post as I knew some clown would bring it up. Can you not just debate the actual issue here about ur lack of club success? No, didn't think so. As others have said, derry have had a much better scene than tyrone, when they had different winners every year and yet 3 or 4 of them did well in ulster so tyrone can't use that excuse.
what years of different winners are you refering to and who are the 3 or 4 that did well in ulster?

Well from 1997 to 2003 4 different Derry teams won Ulster:
1997 Dungiven
2000 Bellaghy
2001 Ballinderry
2003 Loup
Plus
2005 Bellaghy (Finalists)
2006 Ballinderry (Finalists)
2008 Ballinderry (Finalists)
2009 Loup (Finalists)

The non-appearance in Ulster Club finals over the last three years ('10, '11 and '12) is the longest absence of a Derry representative since the 1980's when there was a big gap between Ballinderry in '81? and Lavey in '90

It doesn't make sense for any school to give a point just for coaching one team. The board of governors must have been snoozing when that was passed. In most schools you would only get 2pts for a HoD or HoY job, which would be a lot more hassle in comparison with taking a few training sessions!

Some schools (certainly my old school) had one teacher looking after all the hurling teams, and another teacher looking after the football teams. My school was a small secondary school so we had one team per year (maybe not, can't remember). I'd say though in the bigger schools (according to ones here) that it's not the case, and the organiser is the only one who gets a point.

In the big rugby schools and even in smaller ones they have non teaching staff paid very well to coach the rugby, and hockey teams.

Have found it strange why all the teachers who have posted on this topic be so against someone getting a few pound extra (not like kids are losing out on teaching because of it) to manage and coach teams.

I've first hand knowledge of teachers getting at least a half point for this
I wouldn't be against  it at all. If the school have the budget and are willing to give a teacher(s) points or half points for taking  extra curricular activities then fair play!  I don't know any teacher that would turn it down.

In the modem game I don't think Derry would have won an all Ireland. Brolly wouldn't have got a ball

v Down - Brolly didn't score
v Monaghan - Brolly scored 3pts
v Donegal - Brolly didn't score
v Dublin - Brolly scored 1pt
v Cork - Brolly scored 1pt

Brolly was only a small cog in the scoring charts that year.  He only started two games.  Our half back line were probably more potent than the full forward line from play.

The Tyrone team by 2005 were on top of their game but injuries effectively destroyed the team.  I remember the 2006 game against Derry when Tyrone were missing the majority of their best players, that year and 2007 were two years where you wondered if there was any luck in the County as everyone seemed to be hit badly.  Was there ever a squad/team decimated by injuries as badly?  2008 was the last hurrah but by then injuries had robbed the team of the real Brian McGuigan and Steven O'Neill.

Tyrone: P McConnell; R McMenamin, C McGinley, C Gourley; D Harte (0-01), C Gormley, P Jordan; C Holmes; P Donnelly (0-01 (1 '45)); B Dooher (capt), S Cavanagh, R Mulgrew; R Mellon, K Hughes, O Mulligan (0-02 (2f)).
Substitutes: J McMahon (0-01) for Holmes, M Penrose for Mulgrew, E McGinley for Penrose, D Carlin for Gourley, B Meenan for Cavanagh.

Apart from the two players mentioned, what other players would have been included in this majority?

Gerard Cavlan, Mickey McGee, Joe McMahon, Enda McGinley and Martin Penrose didn't start that day as well as the two others mentioned.  But the fact alone that McGuigan and SON were missing that day was huge as they were our two best players.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the players in Blue played/started in 1 All Ireland final and the players in red played/started in 2 All Ireland finals. Which just leaves 3 players who had featured yet.  Hardly a side devoid of experience and talent!

General discussion / Re: Running

I'm working my way up to the 10km mark, more for fitness than aiming towards a race. Did 7km yesterday morning, I tried to keep pace at 4.45 per km, but averaged out at 4.53 per km. First km was much quicker than I wanted at 4.31, but gradually got into the pace. The 6km was the slowest at 5.20, primarily due to a hateful incline.
Are there any apps out there where you can set a pace, with alerts if you are running too fast or too slow.  I'm using Nike+ which gives you the pace after each km, but would like something more frequent.

Just had a look at PiTJ.  They are missing a couple of Derry jerseys from early 90's with different sponsors.  Carhill Car Sales sponsored in '91. Sperrin Metal took over in 1992, with Burns Clothing sponsoring the '92 Ulster Final jersey.  Sperrin Metal until the late 90's. We have had a few since then.

Antrim - No.
Donegal - No.
Tyrone - Never.
Any other Ulster side - Nope.
It wouldn't matter what level or sport is involved.

that schools game was the best game ever at that level

I think St. Jarlaths against Coláiste na Sceilge (2002?) is regarded as the best schools game ever.

Declan O'Sullivan versus Michael Meehan?
Was the the semi final? As I think Jarlaths hammered Enniskillen in the final

The Derry v Down 1992 Ulster semi final @ Casement was a better game than the 94 game, plus we won in '92

Where did that 2004 team go? Did the likes of Boggs, Murray, Mulgrew not make the level of progress expected? I think Cunningham was the captain of that side.  The 2008 team could go the same way. McKenna, Gervin, Teague are three lads that I thought stood out along with with Coney and Harte.  Where have these fella's gone?

Derry haven't set the world alight at minor level since we got to the final in 2007, but the likes of Kielt, McKaigue, O'Boyle, Mullan, McWilliams, Moore. Have all made appearances at senior level in the last couple of years.
