That was some result for Carmen today!

Dont sound so surprised.  I was confident going into that game yesterday. We played some decent football against Omagh in a game which i felt afterwards that we left the points behind. Improved even more for Clonoe and fully deserved the points and took it to another level again yesterday totally out playing a "strong" Cappagh team. Although i do believe we are not quite at a level yet to be competing for a championship but we are heading in the right direction after a few years of negative football that was introduced by Fergal McCann. We might not have an outstanding talent on our team such as a petey Harte or Mattie Donnelly but i do believe we have one of the strongest panels in the county.  A lot of youth starting to push on now with a few of them getting game time yesterday also.

Was Fergal McCann the Carrickmore manager? Is he coaching cappagh now? Suprised he took a coaching role after managing carmen.

He was the coach at carrickmore and trained the team to play defensively. All he done imo was cost the club a fortune.  Didnt suit us at all but we have learned and are moving on.
So who was the manager? Would the manager not be dictacting the way the team is coached/set up?
Gavan mcelroy and dermot loughran were the managers for fergals first year as a trainer with carmen. Seamus mccallan was then the manager last year where mccann lasted only a handful of games before parting company. Munroe seems to have brought a bit of pride back in the jersey and gave the players belief as to how good we actually are when we play a certain style lf football that doesnt involve 14 men behind the ball for most of the game!

Superb performance from Dromore U21's last night defeating Dungannon 1-11 to 0-09 to win only their second ever county U21 title.  We may be a year or two away from a championship challenge but Dromore will be thereabouts for another while yet
Seen the result fair play to Dromore! I think dromore have massively under-achieved this last 6/7 years with the players they've had.. always there or there abouts and I'd expect the same this year. Underage success doesn't always guarantee senior success though!

Any other criac naw?

Seen a great wee piece on MFC's facebook page about having games on Saturdays,
Even a 50/50 split of fixtures on Saturday/Sundays would be great, like each week have a few games dedicated on saturdays, I know a lot of players like to go watch other clubs, esp there neighbors playing in matches, again its gong to raise attendances at grounds and would surely be welcomed by clubs and players!
Great idea regarding the 50/50 split of fixtures, I think if a motion like that was put forward for clubs to decide it would be passed.. Can't see the 'top table' in Garvaghy ever letting it happen though!

Gormley is not done now never mind 7 years ago!
We aren't world beaters but know where we are.

Roddy you are kidding yourself. He's done. Legend and all that he was, he's clinging on and has been for far too long. He keeps this up he will tarnish the legacy that he had.
I'm presuming you weren't at the game yesterday then?

Great result for Carrickmore today. Hopefully it kick starts the season for them. Any reports on it?
Clonoe have had a poor start to the season but anyone who was there yesterday will agree it was one of the best Carmen performances in years. Spearheaded by who else other than Conor gormley. Showing no sign of slowing up just yet.. hope this kickstarts the season with another massive game v Killyclogher next week

Good display from Tyrone today in what's labelled a 'dead rubber' game. Few great displays in defence and indeed going forward.. not to bring negativity to a great result but I think it's clear that a few players are not cut for the county scene, Been given too many chances in the league and come championship time this could have an effect if Harte continues to remain loyal!

It's been told down the years up around here that Carmen are the only team in the county to never get relegated from Division 1.. I wouldn't be that sure of history books etc although I know we've never been relegated, anyone able to confirm if there's another team?

Very tough first few games for ourselves, Away to Trillick then Omagh, Clonoe, Killyclogher and Coalsland within the first 5 games... Ah well nothing like throwing a few young lads in at the deep end.. Just ready to get the league up and going at this stage after this fixture fiasco this past few weeks.

Cavanagh is a legend of the game, I understand if people choose to criticise him from outside the county, but from within baffles me, a County he served so well (dragged them to the 08 all Ireland).  He's in the top 2 players ever to play for the County in my opinion (with Canavan).  He is kicked more than most because of his ability.  If you every go watch Carrickmore, Conor Gormley referees every game.  He is saluted as a great of the game and rightly so.  He maybe doesn't get kicked as much as Sean but he refs the game better than Sean.

Point is Sean Cavanagh is an unbelievable talent and a winner, if he can gain a competitive advantage he will try to take it.  Congratulations to Sean on Another All Ireland, Congratulations to Moy and I hope Colm Cavanagh returns to Tyrone this weekend to get a badly needed win
I would be deluded if I tried to dis-agree with this, its a case of love having that type of player on your team and hate playing against them.  It would be interesting to have a count of how many games Gormley has pulled us through over the years when our backs where against the wall.. don't forget Canavan also had that special power to influence a referees decision yet he is considered the greatest of all time' - I wouldnt be so critical of Sean Cavanagh

Early in the year yet, but when do league and championship fixtures be released? Is it Feb or March?

Great news about Micky Kerr as new county chairman. Just thinking it will be great to have a carmen clubman handing the O’neill Cup over to a carrickmore captain on the steps of Healy Park next september   ;) ;D
