Clontibret vs Latton in the Monaghan final on Sunday. It's Clontibret's first time back in final(apart from amalgamations) since the Ulster winning team in 2002.

Who did Clontibret amalgamate with? I'd have thought they would have been a big enough to field their own teams at underage?

We amalgamated with neighbours Cremartin(who had a good minor team themselves) for just one year, won the Monaghan championship in 2005.

We are big enough to field our own teams at underage(not big numbers but still enough), but that particular year for some reason there were quite a few amalgamations forming and this one happened too. We would have had a decent team as did Cremartin, but I doubt either would have won it on their own, clearly it was a decision made going all out to win the championship rather than one made due to necessity or lack of numbers.
