so fellas wat are we expecting from clare? seems like a fairly good result for them in carlow. still if we expect ta get anywhere we should be expecting 2 points again this weekend. IMO there was a few problems with the team selection da last day. clare should be a bit more capable of exposing such weaknesses dan da cats!! da usual midfield and centre back issues might reapear i reckon. when is egan back r is he available?? who would be clares main men? im also not 2 sure if ohara is a chf, i dont know if his delivery of the ball is good enough. he is a class player but im not sure about his foot passing. would 10, 12 r 14 not suit him a bit better?

Perhaps if the 'experiment' was let run for more than 1 year we could have seen attitudes change.

wel i suppose it would take time for something like that to develop properly but it doesnt seem right to be forcing teams into it while its still a bit of a joke.

Leitrim's John McKeon, only true full back in the country.  I dare any top forward to play opposite him.

i agree mckeon is good, great feilder of high ball. not best in counrty doe. in sligo noel Mcguire (captain) is full back but plays midfield alot for his club. he still plays well there for sligo and the full back line in general is our best line. suppose FB line is leitrims best too? was a few years ago anyway. mayo full back seems to change. suppose mckeon and hanely best in connaught??
full backs are different now because game has changed so much, game is far faster. also the ball used to be hit in high from alot further out years ago, full backs need to be more agile now and quicker over the ground. the likes of donaghy is a disaster to play against cause he is a towering man but very mobile aswell. takes a hell of a FB to stop him

Beirne didnt play against Louth, The team was Greene, harrison, mcguire, donovan,j davey, mcnamara, mcgovern, ohara, quinn,e mchugh, curran, kivelhan, flannery, sweeney, kelly. Subs that came on gaughan, gilmartin, coen and sean davey. Fair play to ya showing an interest even though your abroad, ocean fm online if u wanna listen to match. I'll be listening to my radio on my mobile for updates on leitirm limerick game aswell while at longford. You make a good point limerick will be all out for the win so we can be fairly sure theres no conspirary theories. I think limerick might be shooting themselves in the foot aswell, leitrim love tight pitches and fixing the game for kilmallock not parc na ngael could cost limerick.

did he play FF against fermanagh?? prob wont get a game dis week so. dont think mchugh wil get start either. not bad player but not ready i dont think for senior.

QuoteWhich is stupid too, if the rule is stupid next year, it's also stupid this year.  Maybe they reckon it would play havoc with 'The Master Fixtures' as set out on the gaa website - it makes me angry even thinking about that site tbh

i agree with ya there its stupid for this summer too. so the teams that get regulated to division 4 wont play in qualifiers dis summer f dont make prov final? wel i reckon sligo limerick and longford are not bad teams and could be in that senario. some of the teams at the bottom of div 4 are very poor though

wel i hope their analysis is better than the job they did on the rugby world cup or the Rep of ireland soccer friendlies or even when they had champions league. a bit more gaa on sports 2night wouldnt go astray either. i find it awful annoying getting used to new commentators

cant understand what duffy could be seeing. the tommy murphy cup was an unsuccesfull experiment. as some1 previously said, if the reward for winning the tommy murphy was place in the qualifiers at some stage then it might have been more successful. several counties have benefited greatly from the qualifiers and this is far better for improving weak counties. for instance sligo and longford are two teams who greatly improved from the qualifier system, these two teams play this weekend with a good chance of one of them been relegated to division 4 for next year. the tommy murphy system would then prevent them from gaining access to qualifiers if they dont make provincal final. that would be a disaster for either team and more counties in similar system. i also think a number of division 4 teams have a chance of affecting the championship, offaly in particular

right u are sligonian. dont know where i was getting the score difference from. well at least from limericks point of view a draw is not enough for them if we were to lose to longford. so they be all out for win. id hav to agree with ya on flannery. tried before and didnt do alot, doesnt do alot from play. still its not like many of our forwards are setting the world alight with massive scoring displays. jordan will prob have kevin beirne in his team somewhere on sunday, hope its not midfield. heard he did ok against louth at FF. wasnt at da game though, livin abroad.

id leave curran half forward for longford game, no point making too many positional switches together. flannery take frees, dont trust davey with them. kelly should start wing forward, ive seem him play there at club and schools level, he finds it easier to score on the run comming from deep. only thing is we would miss him in the corner cause he always gets out infront of his man. gaughan might b better as a second half sub, wins alot of frees when he runs with the ball. dont think sweeney deserves to start, id even have mctiernan before him. suppose it depends if johnny mc is fit to start whether either of those lads start. mcpartland is a great man to get a few scores. dont know where they will play brehony but it shouldt be full forward cause the full back will bully him off the ball.

if we win by 4 points then we stay up even if limerick and leitrim draw because of the hammering down inflicted on limerick makes there score difference closer to us. i think anyway. that would be alot easier than sweating on the other game to go our way. i reckon limerick will beat leitrim anyway. they are fairly poor away from carrick

any word on ohara or is he injured? any other injury worries 4 da weekend? awful hard to know wat the starting team might be with a few of the younger lads commin on nd doin ok against louth. heard tony taylor played  bit for harps at da weekend, good to see him back. could really do with him and egan back. egan gives a great physical and aggressive presence at centre back. i think mcnamara lacks that but is prob better on the ball. i reckon egan would be better at stopping the runs through the middle, very important if we struggling at midfield
