GAA Discussion / Re: The Sunday Game

Des Cahill just said Shakalakaboomboom on Sunday game. Seems to be as part of some sort of dare where he has to say certain words every week. These words are sent in on Twitter.

Is this how RTE are stepping up to the plate in face of Sky showing GAA?

QuoteThe Highlights package
For the weekly highlights package, don't expect a GAA equivalent of Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher standing in front of a big screen or Austin Healey or Matt Dawson bouncing around a studio, a la BT Sports rugby magazine programme. There will be no Sunday Game style format, no studio or no major analyses, simply a round-up of the weekend's action aimed primarily at the UK audience. Steve Smith outlined how the highlights programme will look.

That's a pity, I think a midweek analysis/discussion type show is exactly what we need and I'm surprised nobody has ever done it.
yeah i agree.
a football focus type show would be good, with a round up of the main action & talking points and maybe a feature interview with a  player/manager or whatever
Def good mid week programme giving all games a bit of exposure badly needed

GAA Discussion / Re: Who/what can stop Dublin?

Only weakness in this Dublin team is the poor post match speech they give.

May have been discussed already but one benefit from this is real competition for RTE, never mind live games, if Sky provide decent highlights coverage of all counties games rather than 30 seconds on the Sunday game surely that is a good thing.

Apart from Lukakus first 2 or 3 mths we have been light up front all season. Another 10/15 goal striker would have saw us seriously push for 4th. Too any games we have dominated without a cutting edge.

Having said that we have still played great football this season and still in with a shout in the fa cup.

Hopefully the summer will see some real investment.

Have just started running after a lifetime of inactivity. Have ran a few 5kms and just getting into it but have started getting pain on the side of one knee. looked it up and seems to be ITBS, anyone heard of it or ways to get rid of it?
The old ITBS!
Right, here are a few general pieces of advice. Would prefer to have a look at your hip mobility and your feet in an ideal world but try these few things, (if no improvement in 10 days, go see a good local Physiotherapist)

Good shoes are vital.
Hip mobility stretching - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykbu5RZhPbM 20 second holds and 10 rocks of pelvis each side x 2 per day

Quadricep/TFL stretch - 30 seconds each position https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsM64G546-0
x 2 per day

Foam rolling your glutes will help too, 2-3 mins a day is plenty.

Have been reading recent research saying that foam rolling the ITB itself actually doesn't do that much other than compress it, rather than stretch it! New stuff coming out all the time and will keep an eye on that line of thought.
Thanks for the tips will give it a go!

Never mind next season if Lukaku got injured we would be seriously short of strikers. Number 1 priority must be decent striker. number 2 tying down Barkley to a new contract. Exciting the thought of Barkley and McCarthy pairing over the next 5 years.

Loving being a Toffee at the moment, actually being given praise in the media is a bit strange.

Martinez always seems to say the right thing in the press, see he came out with "why should a team that has won the league 9 times not aim for the champions league",saying and doing all the right things at the moment.

No reason with a couple of Jan signings why we can't make top 4, very little between most of the top 6 or 7 teams.

week before last it was stated that there would be an announcement Thursday but McGrath himself said he wasn't contacted until Monday. Whole thing seems a bit last minute.

Should be interesting to see who gets these this year.

Would say MD MacAuley is nailed on but has anyone else been consistent enough.

Likes of both OSheas, Sean Cavanagh,Darren Hughes have had 1 or 2 good games but often followed by average ones.

Think they were so primed to stop short kick outs they neglected space further out the field.

would agree o'connor was passenger, missed a couple of early frees when Mayo were on top.Mayo forwards bar Moran went missing in 2nd half when game was up for grabs.

Mayo will be close again next year but will need to unearth some new blood in forwards along the lines of McBrearty when he came into Donegal team.

Lukaku looks a beast, better than anything Chelsea have. Baines immense, 2nd free kick as good as any I've seen.

Everton dominating possession in games under Martinez, with a cutting edge we could have a decent season
