With Derry being at home, Celtic Park being a tight pitch and the Slaughtneil players back into the setup I just figured that they'd put it up to us. I was kind of surprised how much space Cavan gave us to be honest. Their lack of tackling was surprising.

Really looking forward to this weekend's game in Celtic Park. I'm expecting Derry to put up more of a challenge than Cavan did. Hopefully we can make some improvements to our defence as that was one of the things that was highlighted in the last game. It would be good if Paddy McGrath and McNellis were match-fit too. Any word on any further injuries?

Yeah, I read that McVeety was out alright. He's a big player for them. Hopefully the boys can do the business on Sunday and then we can look forward to playing Derry in Celtic Park in a fortnight's time.

Very quiet on here at the moment. What are people's thoughts on this preliminary round match? I think that Donegal should edge it but it's really hard to say based on league form. We were unlucky to be relegated but Cavan deserved to be promoted. This one might come down to the wire.

Was it "Ag lorg ticéidí" or "Ag cuartú ticéidí"? Or maybe "Ticéidí de dhíth"?

I hope that this gets us to page 3 lads! I can't say that I've ever heard that expression before RRHF but it wouldn't have anything to do with The Grill in Letterkenny would it? Shift one doll inside, shag a Derry doll out the back and then head home and hook up with a Tyrone bird on the bus maybe? ;-)

Good news for Kavanagh
04 June 2012

Donegal manager Jim McGuiness expects Rory Kavanagh to be fit for Saturday week's Ulster SFC quarter-final against Derry.

A scan revealed that the long-serving midfielder sustained partial tears to two ligaments on his left ankle when playing for St. Eunan's against Ardara in a Donegal SFL game last Sunday week, but with intensive treatment, McGuinness is confident he will be ready for the Ballybofey showdown.

"He's making good progress and we're hopeful he'll be available for the Derry game," he told The Irish Daily Star.

The news regarding Michael Murphy is also positive after he returned to training last week following groin surgery in March.

"Michael is back out on the field, but it will take him some time to get back up to the level of the other players as he's been out now for nine weeks. We'll monitor him closely, but he's had no recurrence of the injury - which is a great starting point."

Paddy McGrath (quad muscle), David Walsh (calf) and Anthony Thompson (hamstring) are also carrying injuries at present, but aren't thought to be in any danger of missing the Derry game.

Murphys back! Nice one. Hopefully he can play a good part against Derry. I'm not sure that he'll last the 70 mins though. Fingers crossed he doesn't get injured again.

I think that the Donegal lads will surprise everyone and pull another Anglo-Celt out of the bag. Fingers crossed. ;-)

Setanta are showing it I think.

I'm hoping that the lads can keep a bit of momentum going from the Mayo game and give a good performance on Saturday night. If their attacks are as free-flowing as the last day against Mayo they stand a chance of beating Dublin. Dublin are without Eoghan O'Gara and Bernard Brogan too remember so that might make a bit of difference.

Did McBrearty, Brick Molloy and Marty O'Reilly get away without any injuries after the U-21's played Tyrone during the week? Any more word on McGee's ear infection?
