As someone who goes to as many Northern Ireland international football games as possible - home and away - I think that I would qualify as an expert on the name.


Tony Fearon (Write Back, December 15) should know the team is called Northern Ireland.

I believe his letter was sectarian.

I have nothing against Cardinal Brady or should I call him 'Church Worker Brady'?

An unusually sesible idea in the Tele from Tony. I'm sure like me he would be over the moon at three anthems being played at Croker before the game - The UK anthem, The ROI anthem and the Brazilian anthem. The thoughts of thousands of Northern Ireland flags adorning the stands at the home of Gaelic games fills me with joy! As the ROI side no longer have a manager it would no doubt be left to the Irish Football Association to organise the game. You never know - Glasgow Rangers third choice keeper Roy Carroll may even get a run out.
