People want change, Not enough like minded people will give up their time to achieve it imo. As I've posted previously there needs to be 5-6 people go in & infiltrate the county board this has to include a couple of past players, people of stature in Laois gaa - a dempsey from Josephs, Niall Rigney for example.

I know people make mistake, the least the county board could've done is drop him a grade for next weekend. The consequences of his error is another game on clonaslee St manmans - with all their dual players playing week on week now is a big ask challenging on two fronts. There is 4 better referees in the county imo. As I said nothing against the ref - I think governance is the main issue.

The ref who made a massive error last week in Premier intermediate quarter gets rewarded with doing the senior semi final, only in laois would this happen.

Leave it at 8 imo. Rename premier intermediate to intermediate & so on thus bringing in junior D. Also would like to scrap the group system - as round 3 this year was largely meaningles games, go back to system few years ago - winners group & losers group. I would seed the semi finalists. Just my two pence worth.

At the 2 games today. 1st game was brutal imo - I hope killeen go down after setting up the way did today. Portlaoise will do well to beat ods the next day missed an awful lot. 2nd game was a good bit better - best team won was impressed with Courtwood without hogan & donoher, they hung in the game when it looked away from them. Sean O'Flynn was immense. Can Doyle & byron also very good. I thought Ballyroan might get to semi this year - there forward play was poor.

2 decent games, ods had too much for Courtwood who will be happy with there year on reflection. Hatch + Barry were very good as usual, will be interesting how they get on against a tighter harder hitting port team. On that game Portlaoise left it behind them imo, the black card was a massive decision + turned the game ports way..Larkin, macca, rioghan Murphy were very good.

Laois / Change needed within Laois Gaa Structures
August 26, 2022, 08:45:51 AM
I think this thread or something similar is needed. There was a strategic review carried out by Laois gaa, Nicky Brennan headed this review some 3/4 years. As far as I can see most of the things were not acted on by our county board. For example a new juvenile club was to be setup in Portlaoise.

On championship big guns, I think Joe's have a decent chance. Port have Byrne lad home to win championship for them brings its own pressure. Also Portlaoise + graigue improving with each outing, looking forward to two interesting semi finals. On county board I'd like to see 5/6 lads ala Michael duignan in Offaly coup to sort out our medium/long term in the county.

I think the championship has been decent enough competitive wise. The obvious two tiers, 4/5 teams going to battle it out for champo and the rest the same standard. Laois senior I'd rank around 5th in Leinster. On quarters my predictions port by 3, portlaoise by 7, Josephs by 5, graigue by 6.
