The police generally have probably cause at least before arresting someone. A complaint is not the same as an arrest. These guys have all been arrested.

A complaint would give 'probable cause' which is an incredibly low standard of proof (albeit the same standard required for a Grand Jury indictment. So there's no actual difference.

No, if there was a complaint and police turned up to the house to find a wife or girlfriend battered, bleeding or bruised, then that would be probable cause.

Where do you draw the line? Oscar Pistorious was presumed innocent until last week - should he have been competing away while all the charges hung over him, even though he'd been charged with murder?

BOOM didnt leave my defense out this week, Picked the falcons after watching hard knocks (nothing to do with them at home to the Buccs).

No I'm pretty sure a complaint is enough to give rise to probable cause. As for Pistorious he absolutely should have been allowed to compete in fact I thought he was allowed.

Now that the due legal process has completed and Ched Evans has served his time, should Sheffield United re-sign him?

That's a completely different situation. Evans no longer has a presumption of innocence and its up to the sporting bodies of they so choose to decide on whether or not they allow criminals like that to participate in the sport, same now with Pistorious.  I would have no objection if they banned players for committing crimes or certain crimes (although I disagree with lifetime bans personally) provided they enforce such rules fairly and consistently. Similarly it's up to an employer to decide to hire someone or not based on their record. As I said earlier in the thread feel free to throw the book at players who are convicted.

That's completely different though to banning an individual for merely being accussed of a crime.

OK, Week 3, here we go and no arrests to report this week so far....

Montana Superbowl

Faithful Turfmen B 106.59 - 94.69 Ruthless Rossies

Far from a stellar week for the Turfmen 'B', but it was enough to condemn the Rossies to their 3rd straight defeat, and in the process extend the Faithful Turfmen 'B's winning start to the season. The difference maker in the game was Atlanta WR Julio Jones, who had a fantastic Thursday night against the hapless Buccs, catching 9 passes for 161 yards and 2 TDs for a tally of 34.05 points. Russell Wilson (QB-SEA) and  Calvin Johnson (WR-DET) were the only others to break the 10 point mark, but the rest did just enough to bring the win home. For the Rossies, there were actually 5 positions which netted at least 10 points, with top marks going to Seattle tough guy safety Kam Chancellor. He added 16 points from 6 tackles, 1 Interception, 1 Forced Fumble and 2 Passes Defended. Cordarelle Patterson (WR-MIN), Rob Gronkowski (TE-NE), New Orleans DEF and JJ Watt (DL-HOU) were the other double digit gainers for the men of Roscommon.

Smackdown Clowns 125.74 - 119.61 Ballyhaise Bills

The Smackdown Clowns got off the mark with their first win of the season thanks to a solid performance against the Ballyhaise Bills, who drop to 1-2. This victory was only sealed last night as the Chicago Bears DEF outscored Ballyhaise Bills' Matt Forte (RB-CHI) on Monday Night Football. Indeed the Bears DEF were the Clowns top scorer of the week with 22 points from 3 Sacks, 2 Interceptions, 1 Fumble Recovery and 1 Touchdown. Emmanuel Sanders (WR-DEN) was the top scoring individual player for the Clowns, and he was joined by Ahmad Bradshaw (RB-NYG), Peyton Manning (QB-IND), Steven Gostkowski (K-NE), Carlos Dunlap (DE-CIN) in getting more than 10 points.  The Bills will count themselves a little unlucky to come out on the losing side, given the great showing on Monday night by the Bears DEF, but they had good outings from Drew Brees (QB-NO), Brian Hartline (WR-MIA), Victor Cruz (WR-NYG), Eric Weddle (S-SD) and top scorer Rashad Jennings, the New York Giants' running back. Jennings gained 18.80 points on a massive 176 rushing yards and 1 TD.

Coolera Bears 147.38 - 126.68 Oraisteach's Browns

The Champions bounced back from their reverse last week with a fine performance to push their record to 2-1 after a 21 point win over the 1-2 Oraisteach's Browns. This despite a miserable -1 return from New Orleans Kicker Shayne Graham who managed to miss a PAT in the game v Minnesota. On a better note, the Bears were led by standout Pittsburgh Steeler wide receiver Antonio Brown. Brown, a fifth year man out of Central Michigan, had 26.93 points on 10 receptions for 90 yards and 2 TDs. He had ample backup from the likes of Jay Cutler (QB-CHI), Marshawn Lynch (RB-SEA), LeVeon Bell (RB-PIT), Travis Kelce (TE-KC), The Colts DEF and LaVonte David (LB-TB) who all ended up with more than 10 points. The Browns had 4 positions breaking the 10 point barrier, chief amongst whom was veteran Washington Redskins WR Pierre Garcon. The ex-Colt had 25.90 points on 11 receptions for 138 receiving yards and 1 TD. Others to show well for the Browns were Giovanni Bernard (RB-CIN), Fred Jackson (RB-BUF) and Blair Walsh (K-MIN).

hegan's clowns 125.35 - 109.41 Savage Bears

Hegan's clowns got themselves up and running with a good win over the Savage Bears, as they held on for a 16 point win. The Clowns' first win of the season was spearheaded by the play of Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan, as he enjoyed himself in the win over Tampa Bay on Thursday night. Ryan threw for 286 yards and 3 TDs for a top scoring 19.92 points. Dez Bryant (WR-DAL), DeSean Jackson (WR-WAS), Zac Stacy (RB-STL), Adam Vinatieri (K-IND) and the Chiefs DEF were the other big scorers for the winners. For the Bears, who fall to 2-1, Andrew Luck was very impressive at QB in the Colts trouncing of Jacksonville. The Stanford man threw for 370 yards and 4 TDs for a great score of 28.15 points to lead the way for the Bears. Unfortunately his teammates couldn't follow the lead although Julian Edelman (NE-WR), Greg Olsen (TE-CAR),  Percy Harvin (WR-SEA) and Cody Parkey (K-PHI) did their best. In hindsight it was really the returns from Jordy Nelson (WR-GB), Danny Woodhead (SD-RB injured) and the 49ers DEF that let the Bears down.

New York Jets VIII 109.40 - 64.12 Colm O'Mealoid

In the final game of the week we had a blowout, as the Jets VIII handed out a 45 point trashing to the previously unbeaten Colm O'Mealoid. It wasn't even as if the Jets, picking up their second win of the year, were overly impressive. Moreso that the O'Mealoid squad completely tanked in Week 3. The Jets VIII were led by Nick Foles, the Eagles QB, with 23.10 points on 325 Passing Yards, and 3 TDS, but only really had Alshon Jeffrey (WR-CHI) and Justin Tucker (K-BAL) to impress other than that. O'Mealoid will be disappointed his squad couldn't make a better impression on the scoreboard, but with Matt Stafford (QB-DET) returning 0.32 points and Roddy White (WR-ATL) sitting out Thursday's game, it was left to DeMArco Murray, the Dallas tailback, and his 16.55 points to be the sole double digit man for Colm O'Mealoid in a week they will want to forget.

Walter Payton B Championship

Faithful Turfmen 149.45 - 95.68 Galway Bay Tribesmen

A strong showing from the Turfmen was good enough to maintain their 100% start to the season, and condemn the Tribesmen to their first defeat. The Tribesmen won't be happy not to have at least broken the 100 point mark, with a fair scattering of low scores throughout the roster, including a -1 return from Shayne Graham, the New Orleans Kicker. There were strong performances from several Tribesmen though, with the high mark being set by Dallas running back DeMarco Murray, who returned 16.55 points from 100 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD and 4 receptions for 31 yards. He was joined in avoiding the doghouse by Jay Cutler (QB-CHI), Rob Gronkowski (TE-NE) and the Miami DEF. The winners had several very strong performances, including a game high 25.90 points from Washington Redskins WR Pierre Garcon, who amassed 11 catches for 138 yards and 1 TD. Buttressed by that performance, Nick Foles (QB-PHI), Dez Bryant (WR-DAL), Steve Smith Snr (BAL-WR), Marshawn Lynch (RB-SEA) and Nick Folk (K-NYJ) helped to drive the Turfmen home.

Red Hand Helmets 99.74 - 101.15 Big Apple Orchards

A close game between these Tyrone and Armagh protagonists ended up with the Orchards sealing their first win of the season, and condemning the Helmets to their second loss. In such a tight game, one big performance can be the difference, and so it transpired here. With only two positions yielding more than 10 points for the Orchards, Andrew Luck rode to the rescue with 28.15 points. The Colts QB threw for 370 yards and 4 TDs in a big time contribution to the cause. The only other 10 point man was Dallas Kicker Dan Bailey, and so the Orchards will be relieved to have held out. The Helmets had 4 positions over 10 points, led by the Chiefs DEF with 15 points, and joined by JJ Watt (DL-HOU), Calvin Johnson (WR-DET) and LeVeon Bell (RB-PIT) but will be bitterly disappointed to lose in such a manner given Arien Foster (RB-HOU) missed out on playing this week, due to injury, and Aaron Rodgers (QB-GB) returning a decidedly mediocre 7.24 points.

Bear You To Shreds 122.54 - 96.29 Rehab is 4 Quitters

A more comfortable winning margin in this one, as the Shreds get up and running with the first win of their young season against the erstwhile unbeaten Quitters. The Shreds were powered by 5 double digit performers in Drew Brees (QB-NO), Reggie Bush (RB-DET), Robbie Gould (K-CHI), the Denver DEF and top of the pops, Michael Crabtree, the mercurial WR for the San Francisco 49ers. In a game versus the mighty Arizona Cardinals Defence, Crabtree managed to snag 10 receptions for 80 yards and a score - good enough for 20.20 points and pointed the way for Bear you to Shreds. The Quitters had 5 strong performers themselves, paced by Peyton Manning (QB-DEN) and his 303 passing yards and 2 TD passes for 18.01 points. Greg Olsen (TE-CAR), Percy Harvin (WR-SEA), Eric Weddle (S-SD) and Levonte David (LB-TB) were the others who did themselves justice over the weekend, but it wasn't enough.

Crossmaglen Hitmen 142.41 - 98.08 Gary ONeills Team

The Hitmen easily disposed of Gary O'Neill's team in this clash, earning their second win of the season and in the process sending the O'Neills to their third straight defeat to start the year. The Hitmen overcame Detroit QB Mathew Stafford's forgettable night (0.42 points) to rack up an impressive total, thanks to 6 double digit positions. The star performer was Steelers wideout Antonio Brown and his 26.93 points from 2 TD receptions, and 10 receptions overall for 90 yards. Brown was assisted by Julian Edelman (WR-NE), Cody Parkey (K-PHI), the Cincinnati DEF, Tamba Hali (LB-KC) and the impressive Kyle Fuller (CB-CHI) who had 20 points himself, on 6 tackles, an INT and 2 forced fumbles.  ONeills had good showings from star man Alshon Jeffrey (WR-CHI), he had 105 receiving yards on 8 receptions for 15.90 points, Giovanni Bernard (RB-CIN), Justin Tucker (K-BAL) and the New Orleans DEF. O'Neills will be worried about the form of Tom Brady (QB-NE) and Larry Fitzgerald (WR-ARI) as they are just not producing big numbers so far this season.

L'Esprit de Biff 130.98 - 92.67 M4S Someday

L'Esprit de Biff claimed their second win in a row this weekend, as they saw off M4S Someday by 38 points, which puts the Mayo squad on 1-2 for the year. The Biffs can thank the top man, Julio Jones and his 34.05 points for a large portion of their tally for the week. The Falcons WR made hay against the Buccs on Thursday night to the tune of 161 yards, 9 receptions and 2 TDs. Victor Cruz (WR-NYG), Knile Davis (RB-KC), Brandin Cooks (WR-NO) and Steven Gostkowski (K-NE) made sure Jones' effort was rewarded with a victory as they chipped in significantly to the overall score. For the Someday squad, well, it wasn't this day. Fred Jackson (RB-BUF), Rashad Jennings (RB-NYG) and Matt Ryan (QB-ATL) did their best, with Ryan's 19.82 points (what a great year that was) coming off 286 yards and 3 passing TDs. Unfortunately for the Mayo men, below par performances from the likes of Antonio Gates, Keenan Allen, Sammy Watkins and Eddie Lacy  ensured the Biffs had enough in the tank.

Jerry Rice C Championship

Faithful Turfmen C 103.11 - 125.41 Sean's Team

The Turfmen's 'C' team fell to a 22 point defeat this week, going to 1-2 on the season, against the unbeaten 3-0 Sean's Team. Sean had Andrew Luck, the Colts Quarterback, as his main man with 28.15 points on 370 passing yards and 4 TDs but Luck was joined by Victor Cruz (WR-NYG), DeMarco Murray (RB-DAL), Michael Floyd (WR-ARI) and Justin Tucker (K-BAL) in the heavy scoring category, and it was enough to seal the deal. The Turfmen tried to rally on Monday night with Michael Bennett's good performance at Tight End for the Chicago Bears adding 19.70 points to the tally through 5 receptions for 54 yards and 2 TDs, however the lack of support around the roster meant the Turfmen came up short. Only Drew Brees (QB-NO) and Blair Walsh (K-MIN) contributed meaningfully to the losing effort.

Antrim89 97.25 - 83.72 Ronan's Team

A low scoring encounter in this one sees the glensmen hang on for a 14 point win, their second success of the season. Ronan's team falls to 1-2 on the year. Antrim89 had the game's standout performer in Jeremy Maclin, the Eagles wide receiver, who had 154 receiving yards and 1 TD on 8 receptions for 26.70 points. Maclin was aided by Percy Harvin (WR-SEA), Knile Davis (RB-KC), Greg Olsen (TE-CAR) and the Saint Louis DEF, as the 89 team overcame weak showings from Mason Crosby (K-GB), Frank Gore (RB-SF) and even Aaron Rodgers (QB-GB). Ronan had 4 big scorers, with the pick of the bunch being the Detroit DEF and their 23 points on 2 Sacks, 1 Fumble Recovery, 1 Safety and 1 Touchdown. Matt Ryan (QB-ATL), Dez Bryant (WR-DAL) and  Lamar Miller (RB-MIA) tried in vain to turn the tide, but Ronan's team was seriously held back by Brandon Marshall (WR-CHI), Antonio Gates (TE-SD), Roddy White (injured ATL WR) and Phil Dawson (K-SF). Those 4 should be 10 point men almost every week, but this week combined for 2.70 points in TOTAL!

FermanaghandSam 122.79 - 137.26 Oakleaf Dolphins

The Oakleaf Dolphins held on for a 15 point win over FermanaghandSam, and in doing so extended their unbeaten start to 3-0. The Dolphins were inspired by 7 double digit contributors, Peyton Manning (QB-DEN), Calvin Johnson (WR-DET), Leveon Bell (RB-PIT), Dan Bailey (K-DAL), the Bengals DEF, Alec Ogletree (LB-STL) and the leader of them all Emmanuel Sanders (WR-DEN). Manning found Sanders 11 times for 149 yards, good enough for 21 points. FermanaghandSam turned in a decent performance themselves, and were best served by top scorer Julio Jones (WR-ATL). It's a shame to waste such an effort, as Jones contributed 34.05 points this week and the Fermanagh lads will be hoping he has some left for future weeks when such a score might lead to a win. Jones was helped in this futile pursuit by Tony Romo (QB-DAL), Rashad Jennings (RB-NYG) and AJ Green (WR-CIN).

Troy PolaMAYO 115.26 - 118.25 David's Superb Team

Well, yet again David's Superb Team lives up to it's tag, albeit in a very tight encounter with another one of our Mayo teams in a battle of undefeateds. This time around, the Superb team had to overcome weak showings at QB (Matt Stafford - DET, 0.32 points), RB (Montee Ball - DEN, 2.20 points) and at DEF (Carolina, 1 pt). That they managed to do so, and move to 3-0, is largely thanks to Beast Mode, Marshawn Lynch, the Seattle Running Back. Lynch carried the ball for 88 yards and a TD against Denver, as well as catching a TD pass and 40 yards through the air for 21.40 points and man of the match. Cordarelle Patterson (WR-MIN), Julian Edelman (WR-NE), Ahmad Bradshaw (RB-IND), Cody Parkey (K-PHI) and Levonte David (LB-TB) helped translate that into a win but sometimes even a poor performance can make a difference if you get one lucky break. Denarius Thomas (WR-DEN) is a fantasy stud, but was kept in check to the tune of 3 receptions for 17 yards by the Seattle Defence. However, thanks to one of those receptions being a Touchdown, Thomas' little 9.85 points turned defeat into victory. Troy PolaMAYO will be disappointed to fall to 2-1in a game they were well in contention, but just as there are what ifs and might have beens on all teams, LeSean McCoy (RB-PHI) returning a meagre 1.10 points will be hard to swallow in such a tight defeat. Of the players who did score well for PolaMAYO, Antonio Brown, the Steelers wideout, was the most eye catching with 2 TDs from 9 receptions and 90 yards for 26.93 points. Jay Cutler (QB-CHI), Pierre Garcon (WR-WAS), Rob Gronkowski (TE-NE) and JJ Watt (DL-HOU) all did well, but it was just those players you'd expect to do a little better like McCoy, Darren Sproles, Andre Ellington and the Houston DEF which cost the win.

UShane's Bolts 138.82 - 116.04 Geezers49ers

The Bolts rode 7 double digit performances to their first win of the season in this battle of 0-2 teams, and thus confirmed the Geezers slow start to the world of GAABoard Fantasy NFL. The Bolts are backboned by the NFL Bolts, the San Diego Chargers, but it was their direct opponent, Buffalo Bills Running Back Fred Jackson, who led the way in this tilt. Jackson only had 34 rushing yards, but had 78 receiving yards and a Touchdown on 8 receptions for 19.60 points. Philip Rivers (QB-SD), DeSean Jackson (WR-WAS), Reggie Bush (RB-DET), Pierre Thomas (RB-NO), Eric Weddle (S-SD) and the Chiefs DEF were the other big scorers in an important result for the Bolts. Geezers49ers will not be happy to be 20% through the season without a win, especially since they had an immense week from their DEF as the Falcons amassed 37 points from 3 sacks, 1 INT, 4 Fumble Recoveries, 1 Def TD and one Special Teams TD in a rout of Tampa Bay. Michael Crabtree gave some cause for hope as the 49er receiver had 20.20 points on 10 receptions for 80 yards and a TD versus the Cardinals and Steve Smith Snr showed well for Baltimore. However lax returns from Joe Flacco (QB-BAL), Jordy Nelson (WR-GB), Arien Fosters (Injured HOU RB), Owen Daniels (TE-BAL) and others meant that all this work went for nought.

Insane Clowney Posse 70.40 - 89.23 Mayo Monsters

The last game of our week was probably the worst game of the week, as befitting a pair of 0-2 teams, but that will matter not one bit to the Monsters as they reflect on getting their first win in this low scoring encounter. There were 3 double digits scores COMBINED in this one, with the Monsters coming out on top in that battle 2-1. For the Monsters, Giovanni Bernard (RB-CIN) and Adam Vinatieri (K-IND) were the top scorers, with Vintieri getting the honours thanks to 16 points from 3 Field Goals and 5 XPs.  Steven Gostkowski (K-NE) was the top scorer, and the only double digit scorer, for the posse with 10 points, as both teams will be anxious to see what they can do to maximise output at the skill positions. 70.40 and 89.23 points won't win too many games in this league, but for this week it was enough for the Monsters to get themselves going...
