Ray Rice , like what the f**k man? brutal stuff, how this guy staying out of jail

Minder

Apparently the NFL had seen the video from inside the elevator & still only gave him a two game ban
"When it's too tough for them, it's just right for us"

Syferus

Don't understand how he's being cut and suspended further now. It was a horrible, disgusting act but how the feck did the league or the Ravens think his girlfriend was knocked out? They all knew and both are just saving face now that a video has come out.

They are just as morally bankrupt as Rice is.

I have to agree with this. Goodell absolutely screwed this one up. When the video became public it gave him the chance to rectifiy the situation. Wonder how it got leaked....

AZOffaly

Agree. The NFL comes out really badly from this. It looks now like either they a) Tried to weasel out of punishing him properly, or b) are shafting him because the video came out.

Week 1 Results.

As we approach the last two games of the first week, we have some intriguing ties across all the championships. Some very good scores also recorded, so let's take a quick look at where we are.

Montana Conference

Faithful Turfmen B 138.14 - 91.36 hegan's clowns.

As expected, Calvin Johnson (WR-DET) and Reggie Bush (RB-DET) salted the game away with a combined 40.40 points, thanks mostly to a huge game from Megatron. 7 Receptions for 164 yards and a couple of scores gave him a personal tally of 31.20 points, and more than enough to make sure of this one.

Smackdown Clowns 119.43 - 159.50 Savage Bears

Monday night was merely a lap of honour for the Bears in this contest, but even so they'll be slightly disappointed to get a combined 4.65 points from Larry Fitzgerald (WR-ARI) and Danny Woodhead (RB-SD). They will need more as the season progresses.

Ruthless Rossies 133.88 - 140.63 Coolera Bears

The Champions are up and running, thanks largely to Michael Floyd (WR-ARI) and his 13.05 points.  Carrying a 10 point lead into the game, Keenan Allen (WR-SD), Golden Tate (WR-DET) and Patrick Peterson (DB-ARI) had earned enough to give the Rossies the edge, but Floyds tally was enough to restore the balance of power in favour of the Bears, and Jason Pierre Paul's (DL-NYG) 2 points were just insurance.

Ballyhaise Bills 106.84 - 141.27 Colm O'Mealoid

This one would have taken something sensational from the Bills to pull it out, and while Rashad Jennings (RB-NYG) did manage 14.80 points, Victor Cruz (WR-NYG) and Eric Weddle (DB-SD) never looked like putting O'Mealoid's team under pressure. As it was Matthew Stafford (QB-DET) had a fine outing himself with 346 Passing Yards, 2 Passing TDs and 1 Rushing TD for 27.02 points. This put the exclamation mark on a good win for O'Mealoids.

Oraisteach's Browns 126.92 - 109.67 New York Jets VIII

As expected, the Browns comfortably held on against the Jets as Ryan Matthews (RB-SD) just couldn't get enough on the board to put a serious dent in the Brown's lead. He did manage a decent 11 points, but Antrel Rolle (DB-NYG) added 8 points for the Browns and that was that, sealing a nice week 1 for Oraisteach.

Walter Payton Championship

Week 1 Results.

Faithful Turfmen 165.29 - 149.78 Crossmaglen Hitmen

As the Hitmen must have feared, Matthew Stafford (QB-DET) did indeed have a great, but not great enough night. To lose with a total of almost 150 points is tough medicine, but with such a spread of scoring it's fair to say the Hitmen won't have to wait too long to get up and running. The Turfmen are delighted to win a good game like this in week 1, and will hope to take the momentum forward into next week.

Red Hand Helmets 170.68 - 81.46 Gary O'Neill's Team

The rout was completed last night in this one, and Gary O'Neill's team will feel that they fell short of a good performance as Larry Fitzgerald (WR-ARI) and Ryan Matthews (RB-SD) could only add 13.10 points between them, 11 of that total with the Charger running back. Rubbing salt in the would was Calvin Johnson (WR-DET) as Megatron added 31.20 points to the winning margin for the impressive Helmets.

Galway Bay Tribesmen 123.03 - 89.64 Bear You to Shreds

Monday night panned out as expected in this one, as REggie Bush (RB-DET) added 9.20 points to the Shred's tally, and that was never going to be enough. Also as expected, Michael Floyd (WR-ARI) and Antrel Rolle (DB-NYG) themselves did more than enough to cancel out any thoughts of a comeback and made the game safe for the Tribesmen with their 21.05 points combined.

Big Apple Orchards 120.47 - 143.01 M4S Someday

An emphatic Monday night performance for M4S Someday saw them comfortably rein in the Orchards lead, and in fact handed them a 22+ point victory. Rashad Jennings (RB-NYG) and his 14.80 points did most of the damage, but Keenan Allen (WR-SD), Nick Novak (K-SD) and Stevie Brown (DB-NYG) dis a bit of gilding the lily with a further 17.85 points. Quintin Demps (DB-NYG) was unable to do anything to stop the flow with his miserly 0.35 points.

Rehab is 4 Quitters 158.63 - 71.36 L'Esprit de Biff

This game was well and truly over even before last night's rubber stamping exercise, but L'Esprit de Biff will nonetheless be unhappy that Victor Cruz (WR-NYG), Andre Ellington (RB-ARI) and Patrick Peterson (DB-ARI) were completely ineffective on the night, adding a mere 11.20 points combined. Quitters didn't need any help, but Eric Weddle's (DB-SD) 5 points brought their tally to 158.63, which is a good standard to set for the rest of the year.

Jerry Rice Championship

Faithful Turfmen C 85.06 - 143.67 FermanaghandSam

The sound of teacups flying around the Turfmen 'C' dressing room will have rang long into the night as their manager read the riot act to his underachieving bunch. Falling 50 points behind their projected total is not the stuff wins are made of, and FermanaghandSam took full advantage, in racking up a very impressive score to earn their maiden win in GAABoard Fantasy. Better in the vast majority of the roster, despite Dallas QB Tony Romo's poor outing, the Fermanagh lads were led by AJ Green (WR-CIN), Julio Jones (WR-ATL), Shane Vereen (RB-NE), Zach Ertz (TE-PHI), Marques Colston (WR-NO), Matt Bryant (K-ATL) Eric Berry (DB-KC) and Luke Keuchly (LB-CAR). 8 positions over 10 points, and none of them being your team D or QB is a good sign for the rest of the year. For the sheepish Turfmen, Drew Brees (QB-NO), Reggie Wayne (WR-IND), Blair Walsh (K-MIN) and Paul Posluszny (LB-JAX) can hold their heads up, but the rest are in for extra wind sprints this week.

Antrim89 97.18 - 171.93 Troy PolaMAYO

A very impressive debut performance from Troy PolaMAYO, to say the least, as no fewer than 10 positions met the double digit barrier and cleared it. It would almost be easier to list positions which fell short, but led by the Houston D with 32 points, Jay Cutler (QB-CHI), Antonio Brown (WR-PIT), Pierre Garcon (WR-WAS), LeSean McCoy (RB-PHI), Chris Johnson (RB-NYJ), Rob Gronkowski (TE-NE), Steven Hauschka (K-SEA), JJ Watt (DL-HOU) and Patrick Willis (LB-SF) were all impressive in the rout. Antrim89 were not terrible, although 100 points is the minimum target to expect a chance of a win, and had decent outings from Percy Harvin (WR-SEA), Greg Olsen (TE-CHI), Jeremey Maclin (WR-PHI) and Leodis McKelvin (DB-BUF). They will look for much more from their skills positions though, particularly RB and QB.

UShane's Bolts 100.39 - 161.44 Oakleaf Dolphins

The Bolts' strategy of drafting a lot of Chargers didn't quite pay off last night as the real life Bolts and the Fantasy Bolts both fell short. In fairness, the deficit facing UShane's Bolts coming into Monday was too much to expect, but they would have liked more than 24.11 from the Chargers contingent of Philip Rivers (QB), Keenan Allen (WR), Nick Novak (K) and Eric Weddle (DB). Reggie Bush (RB-DET) did add 9.20 points to the cause, but it was never enough to threaten the dominance of the Oakleaf Dolphins, who will be delighted to make a winning start in their GAABoard Fantasy career. They leant on Calvin Johnson (WR-DET) and his 31.20 points, as well as the likes of Peyton Manning (QB-DEN), Mike Wallace (WR-MIA), LeVeon Bell (RB-PIT), CJ Spiller (RB-BUF),  Emmanual Sanders (WR-PIT), Cameron Wake (DL-MIA) and the Bengals D.

Insane Clowney Posse 102.24 - 174.15 David's Superb Team

David's Superb Team lived up to their moniker with a very impressive demolition of the Posse in this one, in the process racking up the highest score across all 3 of our Championships. Matt Stafford (QB-DET), Cordarelle Patterson (WR-MIN), Julian Edelman (WR-NE), Marshawn Lynch (RB-SEA), Montee Ball (RB-DEN), Julius Thomas (TE-DEN), Harrison Smith (DB-MIN) and the Carolina D led the way, with Stafford, Lynch and Thomas gaining 80.42 points between the 3 of them alone. The Posse had a decent outing, and were just unable to hang with David's team this week, despite good showings from Nick Foles (QB-PHI), Kendell Wright (WR-TEN), Vernon Davis (TE-SF), Stephen Gostkowski (K-NE) and the Seattle D.

Sean's Team 97.58 - 97.37 Geezers49ers

Possibly the tie of the round across all our championships, in true Ulster Football Championship fashion, this low scoring struggle has ended with a win by .21 of a point for Sean's team. A major caveat here will be to watch the scoring during the week in case of late stat adjustments. In a tight one like this, a late adjustment can throw everything awry.  On the assumption that the scoring will remain the same, Sean will be delighted to eke one out in a tight finish like this. Ironically, given my Ulster analogy, the combined 10 defensive positions netted a miserable 20.58 points between both teams. It is interesting that in that mini comparison, Sean's team came out on top 11.58 to 9 points. And Quintin Demps (DB-NYG) may never get a more valuable .35 points thanks to his 14 return yards. Those 14 yards may just have been enough to get the win for Sean's team. Outside of the defenses, Andrew Luck (QB-IND), Randall Cobb (WR-GB), DeMarco Murray (RB-DAL), Jimmy Graham (TE-NO) and Michael Floyd (WR-ARI) performed well for Sean's team, while the Geezers countered with good showings from Colin Kaepernick (QB-SF), Jordy Nelson (WR-GB), Andre Johnson (WR-HOU), Matt Forte (RB-CHI) and Dan CArpenter (K-BUF).

Ronan's team 106.66 - 85.53 Mayo Monsters

The last game of the week ends in a good win for Ronan's team as he took a 21 point decision from the Monsters. Matt Ryan (QB-ATL) was the main man with his 30.71 points, ably supported by Brandon Marshall (WR-CHI), Denis Pitta (TE-BAL), Roddy White (WR-ATL) and the Lions D, while the Monsters were best served by Gio Barnard (RB-CIN) and the Eagles D. Only 2 positions breaking the double digit barrier is not going to be enough to win many games in this league and the Monsters will want far more from QB,WR and TE. A running back that doesn't contribute -0.3 points would help as well.

.21 ahh the agony, so close. Chekwa not starting and losing Eifert after 10mins prob lost it for me. Learning nrw things as I go along. Can I use my bench after the thursday game? AZ great work in the round ups. Btw I won my the other game on NFL.com played through the Armagh forum by 1.2pts so il take 1-1 for my 1st weekend. On another aside, why the hell was Larry fitzgerald used so sparingly by the cards last night.

AZOffaly

I watched the recap of the Cards game there. Palmer was a bit off at times, but basically I think Fitz is normally targeted by the best defender, which makes throws to the likes of the Tight Ends and Michael Floyd, not to mention the new guy, John Browne, a frequent choice as well. I'd expect Larry to play better games as the year goes on, but I don't think he's a #1 receiver any more, especially when other options are there.
