Question - does the waiver wire shut at any stage? As in, do we need to get in subs for our DEF, DL, DB, K, QB places and the like in case of disaster?

AZOffaly

Waiver wire will be open to the end, but the windows apply.

I am in a fight for my life this weekend with Ruthless Rossies super star team. I need a bit of a miracle to win this one. The inly consolatiin is rehab has a tough match up as well.

The Iceman

Rossie has a dream team! Your only hope is if he benches his starters!
I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight

A good start for Revis and Butthead and a lucky break for me. With the last notable play of the game Antonio Brown catches an 80 yard TD catch. That is one for the reception, 4 for the yards, 6 for the TD and 2 for going past 100 yards and 2 for going past 150 yards, 15 points in one catch to give 23 in total from an average player.

Capt Pat

I think I have survived in division 2 thanks to Revis and Butthead beating Rehab is for Quitters. Unless Witten gets 34 points. He has never done that well before. The fun and games are over for another year.

How are the other leagues and players getting on?

mc_grens

Antonio Brown's far from average lad, he's been doing that most weeks! He's taken up the slack nicely since Fred Jackson went down.

And the results are in, and the playoff and relegation slots are decided. Here we go.

And so the Smackdown Clowns righted the ship just in time to clinch the 4th seed at the expense of the Coolera Bears. The Playoff Spots are set and will see the #1 seed and George Halas Division Champ the Galway Bay Tribesmen at 11-3 take on the #4 seed 9-5 Smackdown Clowns. Halas Division Runner Up, and #3 seed L'Esprit de Biff take on the #2 Seed, the 11-3 Lombardi Champs Faithful Turfmen 'B' in an all Offaly semi final.

There are consolation playoffs as well, which are immaterial in terms of relegation as we are going by final league standings, but there are some battles for pride as the #5 Coolera Bears take on the #8 New York Jets V and the #6 Ballyhaise Bills take on the #7 Mayo warriors.

Relegated into the 'B' Championship for the 2012 season are the #10 hegan's helmets at 2-12, the #9 Shower of Tramps at 2-12, the #8 New York Jets V at 4-10 and the #7 mayo warriors at 6-8. The warriors needed things to go their way but the Bills beat the Bears to make sure of safety.

In the Walter Payton B Championship The results from Week 14 are as follows.

Faithful Turfmen       110.99    Red Hand Helmets       120.83

The promoted teams, who will battle it out for the B Championship over the playoff fortnight are the #1 11-3 Red Hand Helmets, winners of the Allen Division, who will play the #4 9-5 Ruthless Rossies in the semi final. The other semi will see the #2 seed, 10-4 Madden Champs, Revis and Butthead lock horns with the #3 seed Royal Badgers, who actually finished on the same record.

The playoffs for pride see the the #5 Craigyhill Terrors face the #8 Crossmaglen Hitmen, while the #6 Capt Pat's Vikings face the #7 Rehab is 4 Quitters.

The Drop Zone is populated by those teams in 7 - 10 place, and that means that the #7 Rehab is 4 Quitters, #8 Crossmaglen Hitmen, #9 Faithful Turfmen and #10 O'Neill's Chargers will be trying to get back up from the Rice Championship next season.

Which seques nicely onto the Jerry Rice 'C' Championship. Week 14 results from the C Championship were

Faithful Turfmen 'C'       126.71    Big Apple Orchards       105.24

The 4 promoted teams, through to the playoffs, had been known since last week, but the seedings have been decided and are as follows. The #1 team, with the best record in the entire GAA Board Fantasy Football League was the Andy Reid Champs Oraisteach's Browns. The Browns will play the red hot #4 seed Savage Bears. The #2 seed is the Belichick Division Champion Puppet Master, on a 9-5 record, and they will play the #3 North Antrim Nuggets, on an impressive 11-3 mark.

The minor playoff spots see the #5 Big Apple Orchards take on the #8 Superdubs, while the #6 Faithful Turfmen C take on Kildare Rivals #7 Curragh Rams.

Congratulations to the Uibh Fhalians who had a great win over the Curragh Rams on the last day which ensures no team, across all 3 Championships, finished winless.

Finally, thanks a million to all of you who played this season, but haven't made the playoffs. I hope you enjoyed the format, and will take part again next year to right the wrongs of 2011. To those in the playoffs, good luck, and I am still hoping to have a trophy for the winner of each Championship. Enjoy the Semi Finals!

The Woulda Coulda Shoulda Team.

After the last week of the regular season for us, I thought It would be interesting to see what the best team possible would have been given our roster slots. If you had picked these lads you'd be sitting pretty at the moment.

QB - Aaron Rogers Green Bay Packers

Points in 2011 293.85
How? Rogers threw for 4,125 yards in our season. He added 39 touchdowns and only 6 Interceptions. Also a viable running threat in the red zone, although that hasn't been needed this year so far, Rogers has 2 rushing TDs on 207 yards with his legs. Also Rogers has 0 fumbles lost. Maybe the best in the business at the moment, and he is certainly that in the GAA Board Fantasy League.
Who owns him? L'Esprit de Biff in 'A', Capt Pat's Vikings in 'B' , Oraisteach's Browns in 'C'

RB1 - LeSean McCoy Philadelphia Eagles

Points in 2011 235.10
How? Some people were worried about McCoy given the new 'Dream Team' in Philly, as they thought he might be downgraded in such a high powered offense, but as the dream turned to an uncomfortable nightmare, McCoy stayed constant as one of the best backs in the NFL. Already with 1172 yards on the ground, 'Shady' has 14 Touchdowns and 0 fumbles. A back who is as dangerous catching passes out of the backfield, and lethal in screens, McCoy also has 45 receptions for 310 yards and 3 Touchdowns so far in 2011. A ray of light in a dark Eagles' season.
Who owns him? Galway Bay Tribesmen in 'A', Revis and Butthead in 'B', The Curragh Rams in 'C'

RB2 - Ray Rice Baltimore Ravens

Points in 2011 232.12
How? Just behind McCoy in points scored, Rice has made hay as another pass catching, hard running tail back on a very good Baltimore Ravens team. Rice is a huge weapon for the Ravens and Joe Flacco needs him to produce to take the pressure off the passing game. With 1,029 yards and 10 Touchdowns, coupled with 593 Receiving yards and 2 Touchdowns, it's fair to say Rice has produced so far, in spades. He even managed to throw a TD pass himself. If it weren't for 2 fumbles lost, Rice would be the most productive back in our regular season.
Who owns him? Mayo Warriors in 'A', Royal Badgers in 'B', North Antrim Nuggets in 'C'

WR1 - Wes Welker New England Patriots

Points in 2011 249.16
How? It doesn't make sense. How does a 5' 9'', 185 lb slot receiver become one of the most feared weapons in the game? Welker is an anomaly in a game of giants, playing a position where the acknowledged template is a 6'3'' greyhound with a jump like a gazelle and hands like glue. However, Welker is damned good, and a rock of consistency. Great Hands, Sneaky Speed and a nose for the End Zone has made Welker a favourite target of Tom Brady in the Patriot's passing game. Welker has hauled in an even 100 receptions so far, for 1,339 yards and 9 touchdowns. He seldom has drops, and is resiliant after injuries. All in all, a blue collar work horse appreciated by fantasy owners and Pats fans alike.
Who owns him? Galway Bay Tribesmen in 'A', Revis and Butthead in 'B', Oraisteach's Browns in 'C'

WR2 - Calvin Johnson Detroit Lions

Points in 2011 208.60
How? The Ying to Welker's Yang. If you were drawing up a prototype WR in the NFL, you might end up with a physical specimen like Megatron - Calvin Johnson, and then throw it away as being too optimistic. Standing at 6'5'', weighing 235 lbs  (with very little Curry Chip fat added) Johnson has speed to burn (probably quicker now than his 4.35 40 in the combine coming out of college). A fearsome weapon that has suffered when Matt Stafford is injured or out of synch, Johnson has been a big factor in the Lions good start to the season, and is a major reason they are still even contending for a playoff spot. 72 receptions for 1,121 yards and 12 Touchdowns (many of them in the 'throw it in the general direction of the big man' category), Johnson has been a big contributor in our season.
Who owns him?  Shower of Tramps in 'A', Red Hand Helmets in 'B', Derry No Clues in 'C'

Tight End - Rob Gronkowski New England Patriots

Points in 2011 233.78
How? A Tight End that has put many, many Wide Receivers to shame, the second year pro out of Arizona has been a revelation since he joined the league. Part of a savage 1-2 punch with Wes Welker in the Pats passing attach, 'Gronk' is a big Red Zone threat, and has 71 receptions for 1088 yards and 15 touchdowns. He's also managed a TD run in his great season so far and continues to be another great NE draft pick.
Who owns him? Galway Bay Tribesmen in 'A', Ruthless Rossies in 'B', Savage Bears in 'C'

Flex Position WR/RB - Darren Sproles New Orleans Saints

Points in 2011 206.60
How? An unlikely hero this one, but another indication that a pass catching Running Back is a great asset in a PPR league like ours. Sproles only has 463 yards rushing, with 2 TDs, but he has 74 receptions for 580 yards and 4 TDs. The X Factor with Sproles of course is his return game, and 1017 yards and a TD helps a lot there too. It may be significant, or it may be an anomaly, but 2 of our 3 top performing running backs are definitely undersized. Only McCoy at 5' 11'' and 208 lbs is the sort of physical specimen you expect there, and he is no monster himself. Throw in Welker, and maybe smaller is better in Fantasy NFL?
Who owns him? L'Esprit de Biff in 'A', Ruthless Rossies in 'B', Oraisteach's Browns in 'C'

Flex Position WR/TE - Jimmy Graham New Orleans Saints

Points in 2011 191.10
How? I have to say I'm surprised that a Tight End has broken into this flex position, at the expense of a wide receiver, and even more so that it's not Tony Gonzalez, Vernon Davis, Jermichael Finlay or Antonio Gates. However the second year man out of Miami is making the 2010 draft look like a great year for Tight Ends, when you factor in Gronkowski as well. Graham has been a big target for Drew Brees down in the Bayou, and has 80 receptions for 1101 yards and 8 touchdowns in a great year for the big man. Pass catching tight ends can be a real weapon for passing teams as defenses have to decide whether to cover him up with a safety, who will be outmatched physically, or a linebacker, who may be outmatched in terms of going and getting a ball. Graham is showing this as much as anyone this year.
Who owns him?  Galway Bay Tribesmen in 'A', Royal Badgers in 'B', The Curragh Rams in 'C'

Kicker - David Akers San Francisco 49ers

Points in 2011 142.00
How? No surprise to see the long time Eagles' kicker here, as he has been very consistent for years in the NFL. This season has seen a few uncharacteristic misses and blocks, but playing in the city by the bay has helped him. The 49ers have been dominating in possession, with a good run game and a stingy defense, but they are not scoring a lot of TDs which means Akers has a lot of opportunities to pad his stats. Akers has attempted 42 field goals this season so far, and has nailed 36 of them. He's added 27 extra points to make up his tally. A good kicker is vital in a close game, and especially the way the niners play. Luckily they have such a guy.
Who owns him? Ballyhaise Bills in 'A', Ruthless Rossies in 'B', On waivers in 'C'

Team Defense/Speacial Teams - Baltimore Ravens

Points in 2011 234.00
How? Reports of the Ravens' demise were greatly exaggerated, it appears, at least through the regular season. The play of Ray Rice, Anquin Boldin and co has helped, but it's on the back of their great Defense that the Ravens find themselves atop the AFC Central, with two wins over the hated Steelers, and in the box seat for a playoff spot. They've overcome losing spiritual leader Ray Lewis for a few games as well, as Terrell Suggs, Ed Reed, Ladarius Webb, Bernard Pollard, Haloti Ngata and co have picked up the slack. Allowing 196 points, the Ravens have 45 sacks, 14 Interceptions, 10 Fumble Recoveries and 4 turnovers returned for Touchdowns. They also have a kick return touchdown. Prolific, aggressive and opportunistic, the Ravens are a template for Fantasy Defense, and indeed for real life Defense.
Who owns them? Faithful Turfmen B in 'A', Red Hand Helmets in 'B', North Antrim Nuggets in 'C'

Defensive Back 1 - Patrick Peterson Arizona Cardinals

Points in 2011 127.10
How? Seasoned NFL watchers will be raising their eyes at this. How can a rookie cornerback who has been picked on for good portions of the year find himself ranked #1 in Fantasy at his position. This is where fantasy deviates from real life, as there is no doubt that 'P squared' found the going tough in a defense that was struggling to find itself over the first half of the season. As the team defense has adjusted and improved, so too has Peterson, and he is showing great promise as a cover corner, albeit still making rookie errors. The constant throughout the year, and the reason for his ranking, has been his return game. NFL single season joint record holder with 4 punt returns to the house, Peterson has 3 games left to claim the record on his own. He has 53 solo tackles (which happens a lot when your man has caught the ball), 1 sack, 2 interceptions, 11 passes successfully defended, and 1 blocked kick to go with his 603 return yards and 4 scores. Cardinals fans would be content to see him drop down the rankings here as it would probably mean he's improved so much that QBs don't throw to him, and he's not making so many tackles. It would be good for the punt return numbers to stay good though!
Who owns him? L'Esprit de Biff in 'A', Craigyhill Terror in 'B', North Antrim Nuggets in 'C'

Defensive Back 2 - Charles Tillman Chicago Bears

Points in 2011 120.00
How? A ball hawk in the Chicago Defense, Tillman has amassed his points in purely defensive duties, unlike Peterson. Of course it's probably a bad sign that Tillman has even more tackles than Peterson (75) but a lot of that can be attributed to the fact that Tillman likes to hunt the ball down, even in run plays. The Bears' season is in danger of going into the tank with the loss of Cutler, but Tillman has been very prolific at Corner, with those 75 tackles, 2 Interceptions, 3 Forced Fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 Touchdown and 11 passes defended. It's been a busy year for Tillman, but if he keeps making big plays it may get a whole lot quieter for him.
Who owns him? Smackdown Clowns in 'A', Red Hand Helmets in 'B', Oraisteach's Browns in 'C'

Defensive Line/Linebacker - Jared Allen Minnesota Vikings

Points in 2011 156.00
How? Allen may look like a good ole boy, and a hillbilly stereotype from the 80s, Mullet and all, but there's no doubt that on the field he plays like the wild animals he likes to hunt in the off season. Allen is a full 38 points ahead of his nearest challenger and his all action marauding style has been a beacon of light in the Vikings' poor season. He loves QB meat, and has had 18 sacks so far this year, best in the league. He's also had a safety, an Interception, 4 Forced Fumbles, 4 Fumble Recoveries, and 3 Passes Defended. It's been a great year personally for the 8 year veteran out of Idaho State. Maybe next year the Vikings might be able to give him a chance to win again, but this year his main influence has been on Fantasy NFL.
Who owns him? Mayo Warriors in 'A', Crossmaglen Hitmen in 'B', Oraisteach's Browns in 'C'

Fairly disgusted to not make the playoffs but the damage was done long before this week though the performances of my 3 IDP's put the tin hat on it. I enjoyed the season but found it tougher than last year. Now into the "consolation" where all teams scored more last week than 2 of the teams that got through to the playoffs!

I'm alive in one league still but I will play the consolation games cos you only get 16/17 games a year. It's mighty craic, wild pity that its almost over and we've to wait 8-9 months more for the new season.

Outstanding seasonal analysis yet again, AZ.  Terrific!
