Superb documentary from RTE. How many have you been in lads and any stories from them. From all those on show I'd say I have been in 8 of them.

General discussion / Brands..
February 22, 2015, 06:53:22 PM
When it comes to buying stuff (especially food) there are certain brands that I have to buy and I wont compromise on...

Kerrygold Butter
Barry's Tea
Clonakilty Black Pudding
O'Neills Sports wear/polo shirts, etc.

I know other people swear by Toyota cars, Puma King Boots, etc.

Anything else lads?

General discussion / Things you love about Ireland.

The way the likes of Tommy Tiernan and Brendan O'Carroll can come on to the biggest talk show in the nation and say "f**k. piss, shite, etc" and nobody bats an eyelid. In England it would be a national scandal.

Down / 2014 Convention

Anyone going? Looks like there'll be a dogfight for the chair!

Just thinking about Benny Coulter's retirement. Some concentration of talent in one small area in South Down. The bridge had Benny, Mickey Linden and Tom O'Hare. All within a mile of each other.  Obviously the Sés at Ard a'Bhothair will stand out above and beyond anyone else with the lads and their 24 All Irelands all within 50 yards of each other. Any others? I know I'm missing obvious ones but get them up lads

General discussion / Best Live Tunes....
November 01, 2014, 09:10:09 PM
..we have threads on the best cover versions, songs that you never get sick of listening to, etc, etc. But I think live music beats the shit out of studio stuff.

For example...this is superb

Down / New Down talent.
October 06, 2014, 10:42:07 PM
Right lads. McCorry has made a call for clubs to nominate players for the county panel for 2015. Yiz are all very quick to pass judgement on Wee James, Seán óg and Séamus Walsh behind your keyboards...so be constructive and let us know who are the new kids on the block who should be drafted in.

General discussion / "The Ploughing"
September 25, 2014, 11:05:44 AM
Was at it for the first time ever yesterday. Two words "Holy Fcuk". 125,000 people at it. Last time I was in a crowd like that was when the Pope came to Drogheda. In the space of 15 minutes managed to see Michéal Martin, George Hook, Sharon Shannon, Pat Spillane and Mary Kennedy.....and Pat the Boll*x was the only one getting any attention :D

Unbelievable event.

Just watching the documentary about Clarke, McDowell and Rory. Three phenomenal golfers but having listened to them for the last 20 minutes they did seem like pricks at the start. Seeing what they have done for charity I take it all back. Fair play lads. Me bad. Don't judge a book ...etc. big mistake by me.

Love starting a wee bit of debate...so imho these are the best ever from each of the 32...I picked them from own opinion, in some cases from general opinion e.g. Jack Brattan and Seán Purcell and others were just pure guesses from a vague knowledge of your county's football history ....if anyone wants to suggest a player from London and NY feel free..

So away ye go lads...let me have it.....give good arguments if you disagree...and tell me why I'm talking shite if that is the case..I have a thick skin.

GAA Discussion / "Supporting" other counties....
January 10, 2014, 03:49:25 PM
...the jersies thread got me thinking.

Loads of people in Ireland have no difficulty in swearing blind loyalty to English soccer teams...indeed many on here do it...christ I did it myself when Eric Cantona was playing :o

However it seems to be taboo among us Gaels to express admiration or indeed support for another county team. As you may know I would have a certain grá for Kerry which stems from watching them in the Golden Years and the type of football they play and have played. But you dare not say it out loud that you are a Kerry "supporter" to certain other Gaels.....the same Gaels who profess undying love for foreigners living in England who are paid thousands of pounds a week. The same people who you will never ever get a chance to meet and have a pint with.... Unlike our own GAA heroes.
