Is this event still as big as it always was?  Remember being down at it in the late 90's, some wild days messing and a great place to catch up with ex school and university heads.  Never a great deal of football watched though.  Anyone going?
In your Endo!

Not as big as it once was since the Football Championships keep getting run later and later every year. The best teams end up staying at home to concentrate on their own club championships.

A great even though and usually some great football played. Bellaghy maybe going this year and they are a very good 7s team. They won it easy with 9 men for most of it last time I saw them there. Glenullin maybe fancy a decent rattle at it this year and with lads like the Bradley's, Gerard O'Kane and Dominic McIlvar they would have a decent chance too.

D4S

My club Longstone from County Down won the 7s last year, having been beaten in the final the year before.  Going again this year but we have a serious amount of injuries at the minute and will probably only have around 4 out of our bunch of lads who went last year, but hopefully they'll be able to give it a rattle!  We were narrowly beaten by ST Galls in the Castlewellan 7s semi fianl last week!
The secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes.

Final Whistle

great competition. the interchange of players is crucial. you are never beat in it until the final whistle goes either.

Clonoe will have a very good side for that - They seem to be flying at the moment, beating Ballinderry by 2/3 points in a recent challenge match.

Hadn't heard it but will check it out tonight

See it's in Ratoath - only down the road

First intermediate 7-a-side to be held in Ratoath
21 August 2008

Ratoath in Meath are set to host the first official intermediate football 7's competition, which will take its place alongside the Kilmacud Crokes senior and St. Jude's junior competitions.

The event will take place on Saturday, 20th September, with all the 2007 Intermediate club champions from the different counties invited to participate. Additionally, the Ratoath club would also like some guest teams to participate.

If your club/team is playing at Intermediate level (also played last year at Intermediate Level) and is interested in taking part in the first ever 7's, please contact Ratoath immediately through Ann Donnelly 086-8165269. E mail: ann_don@hotmail.com or Ger Dowd 087 6838080 Email: geerri@yahoo.ie

A great day of football and craic is guaranteed and with Ratoath located only half an hour from Dublin, it's in easy reach of Croke Park for All Ireland day!

With regards Moy and Clan na nGael, I wouldn't give either much a chance without their county men and may well be the whipping boys of their groups.

Obviously calling Moy one of the best sides in Tyrone let alone Ireland is a joke, but Moy are a very good 7s side. But without the likes of Cavanagh, Jordan and Mellon won't stand a chance.

the milkman

I would reckon St.Galls would be hard to stop at the 7's and Longstone and Kilcoo should be in with a good chance too!

Minder

If it is anything like the Kilmacud hurling 7's the matches are secondary to the festivities in the club house.

Spot on minder, great craic alright, unfortunately the durty bstards have now put a beer tent out in the grounds as well so there's no respite available atall atall. Very hard to pace yourself if ye've no willpower.
