That is a huge list of players that Galway are missing, desperately need Heaney, McDaid & Kyne to be available next week. I know Cavan are missing a few of their better players including McKiernan but if their well ahead of Galway in the fitness stakes they'll win. Look at the stunt Roscommon pulled 3 years ago when they were miles ahead of everyone in the fitness stakes and then out on their feet come the important part of the summer.

3/1 for a Cavan win is great value.

FBD retained, good attitude and organisation in defence by our boys, took no crap from Galway who had a lot of wides .
Hopefully now that we have someone managing and organising  the team the 4-24 days are over.

However it's only th'oul FBD and will be forgotten about by 7.15 next Saturday when the real League starts.
Galway probably have their eyes and focus set on July and August whereas we have to take it one day at a time.
Hope the lads listen back to the RTÉ radio panel today who have us hot favourites for relegation.

If either team lose next sat that team will be hit favorite for relegation.

Definitely so,would be a tad worried about galway after today's performance, maybe enough credit is not been given to roscommon and the way they defended and tackled in swarms. They were way sharper especially in the first half.Newly promoted teams always have a little extra done and this is why galway and mayo should be on guard next weekend.looking forward to it though.
"newly promoted teams have a little extra done" Galway started back in mid October, Roscommons first get together under Cunningham was not until the first weekend of December.
Well if that is true we are truly fecked on the 16th march !!😁

For what it's worth Kevin Walsh was on the radio afterwards saying they are a good bit behind where they were this time last year.

I have low enough expectations for the league to be honest. Survive and move on. Hopefully.

I'd be of the same view, Galway had a nearly perfect league campaign last year and I don't expect that it will be the same this year.
Cavan could well win next Sunday if they are in any good shape and then with the Dubs and Monaghan to follow in short order after that, Galway could be in a hole very early.
We saw last year how a decent Kildare team got caught in a spiral of bad/unlucky defeats early on and were out of Division One before they knew it, up to some of the Galway squad players to step up and make their mark now.
Some of the beal bocht stuff on here is hilarious

Kildare last year had just been promoted and never got going. they also lost to Carlow in Leinster later on. It was only with #newbridgeornowhere that they found their mojo
Tyrone lost 3 on the trot from the start and finished strongly. You only need 8 points

Cavan are newly promoted and have struggled to turn their recent u21 ulster winning talent into anything substantial . They have  been very disappointing in recent years .

the Galway panel lads have a super opportunity to step up and be counted if there are so many absences.

The Galway panel, given the absences that they will probably have next Sunday, doesn't have much strength in depth. And don't forget, there's a Sigerson round to be played this week also, with a number of NUIG players involved. In truth, we were lucky to beat a superior Mayo team last week and were well found out by a motivated Rossie side yesterday.

Referee Devanney was ordinary yesterday, but not quite as bad as GBFM would have you believe. A good few of Galway's problems yesterday were that they couldn't tackle or engage the opposition player without fouling. Additionally, they were shocking once again going forward. Slow, lateral and too few really county-class players in attack. Stubborn, unimaginative and with tunnel-vision, sadly KW is becoming the Teresa May of football managers. It's going to be another year of the same sterile, frustrating football as in the past. Our better players are in danger of wasting their best years without the chance to express their talent properly. We need regime change.

Maybe we do but the general level in D1 is nothing special.
The Dubs totally dominate the game and the rest are a long way behind .
Tyrone made the all Ireland final last year.  The match needs 2 teams.
It wasn't that they were better than the rest of the peleton.

After shipping a beating to Dublin in round 1, in rounds 2-4 Kildare lost by 1 point (Monaghan), 1 point (Tyrone) and 2 points (Donegal), the arse fell out of it after that a bit but a win or two in that sequence and who knows? They didn't get hammered in every single match. Tyrone didn't lose the first 3 on the bounce at the start either.

So there's no poor mouth on my behalf just a rational assessment of what might happen, I'll be at the league matches so if Galway turn around and beat all before them great, if Galway had the squad to challenge on all fronts then it'd be more likely, agree that it's a great opportunity for the squad players to step up though.

If Galway are going to go anywhere they need a better subs bench than they have had in recent years
Tyrone didn't lose 3 in a row last year. My mistake.   They lost 3 out of 4 and had 2 points with 3 matches left. In fairness they lost to Galway, Dublin and Monaghan who were all in the AISF along with them, so they had the hardest matches up first
Kildare had some sort of psychological thing going on . Most likely candidates for that now are Ros and Cavan.

There should be plenty of incentive for Galway to push on because the Dub machine is not going to purr indefinitely and none of the
potential replacements are anything to write home about.

A bit like the end of Kerry in 86 or post KK recently . There will be a period of change with the spoils to go to whoever is ready.
The hurlers had a 5 year apprenticeship after a change in 2011 and there is nothing like an all Ireland. Building a winning team is all about having the pick and being ready for injuries etc
And as Sylvie said you need a few tinkers.

I don't think anyone expected Galway to beat Tyrone in round 1 last year. The League form was good and the championship form was a step up from the previous year. More progress is required this year.

Maybe regime change is planned for when the full set of iterations is done.

I'd say they were no different in fitness stakes as Galway were last year. The big difference Roscommon got a hammered in their final league game that year while Galway gained confidence and belief from their competitive performance v Dublin in the league final.

For all of talk about Galway missing players they could still field about 11 of last summers championship team on Sunday. Cavan i believe will have more change to their starting line up than that.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

An Fhairche Abu

Galway missing players is getting overblown a bit, Galway had plenty of starters out on the field yesterday but played shite and were well beat by the Rossies, if they put on a similar display next Sunday they'll get the same result regardless of who's on the pitch.

We won't know where Galway are at until Sunday, there could be a logical reason why Galway were so poor on Sunday.
