I thought that Heaneys article displayed a certain amonut of anti-tyrone bias that is beat into all derry people at a very early age. After a few years living among the bushes Im beginning to see past my own prejudices against the pygmies. They are the most high profile culpruits of "drawing a free" but are far from the worst offenders, that "honour" normally rests with whatever county has been landed with a particular cute kerryman.

O'Neill, that particular sindo correspondent must have been watching from a brave distance, my recollection of the incident is quite different. He wasnt apologising to Cavanagh on his way off anyway. I had a good veiw of the incident and there was minimal contact. If the video replay shows different then I will be the first to throw my hands up and apologise to Sean. Derry have their own fair share of swan lake wannabees. Eoin Bradley spends most of his time on the floor, he has the size and ability to be a better footballer than his brothe, and it wasnt unknown for brolly himself to dive.

Those that accuse Canavan of diving need to watch football alot closer. The physical abuse the man got over the years was unbelievable, he was no angel himself, and I can say it was a privelige to watch him in his prime. Every top forward in the game plays the referee for what he can get from him and Peter was no different.

Fear on Srath Ban, your comments on Hinphey are understandable. He didnt cover himself in any glory that day imo. My only comment on the incident would be that hub needed some kick up the hole for allowing himself to rise to the bait. As for those that defend ricey! The man is the greatest exponent of dirty actions currently playing the game. I worked this out a good while ago when he was able to wind conleth gilligan up enough to strike him, that is an achievement all on its own. However, if he was a derryman he would be my first name on the team sheet.

I admired your persistance for a long time dublinfella but really your very far off the mark this time. Your comparing an incident of rioting and street violence with an abandoned game where there was 2/3 punches thrown?

Unforunately I hold out no hope for Derry tonight. I fear a repeat of the Ulster final a few years when Armagh completly bulllied Derry out of it. Apart from Lynch and the others mentioned there are no big names in the Derry team, although Lynn at corner forward has the making of a good footballer. Armagh by 5+

Of the lads on the local scene only Davy Patterson would be able to hold his own against that standard imo. Last time I was talking to him he was retiring with a bad back, but that was maybe a year and a half ago. Has he fought since that Iceman? A genuine tough nut.

If Derry cant reach the final this year then they deserve to be taken out and beat across the back of the legs with fresh nettles, that said I dont expect them to get to the final as it appears most of the dont really give a f***. The winners will come from the other side of the draw. It pains me to say it but I fancy Tyrone, although would love to see Donegal win it for Brian McIvor who is a real gentleman.

DCU have to play the Polytechnic and then the winners of that play Queens. Its a very hard draw as both the Poly and Queens would fancy there chances of winning. Do DCU still have the same amount of "payed stars" this year?

Norf,

Bearing in mind where your located, a gala night at the dogs would be something different and its a definite money maker. You can sell tickets for a set fee that include admission and a meal etc, the restaurant is top notch at lifford btw. Get local buisnesses to sponsor a race each and they get to present trophys etc to the winning dogs. Half of the prizemoney goes to the dogs owner with the other half going to your pot.

Another thing that can be done is that people nominate a dog in each race, by this say £100/£50 fee for a nomination and if your dog wins the race you get £300/£150, there is normally 12/14 races so this on its own can raise upto £3000. Its definetly something different as the dinner dances/auctions are getting a bit played out at this stage.
