Well Aido is out with an ankle injury from Basketball.

Lee will be devoting his time to Westport for the moment.

Mayo are 4/9 Monaghan 9/4 and Draw 15/2.

Hard to know if Mayo will be happy to just retain League status or have a go at winning.

Dublin are so strong, it's hard to see Mayo putting the push on to win a League title they would get no credit for.

IT is going to be a much understrength Mayo side that will take on Monaghan in the opening round of the Allianz National Football League in Elverys MacHale Park, Castlebar, on Saturday evening next.

There will be at least four of the Mayo team which started the All-Ireland final replay against Dublin last October missing from the team sheet for next Saturday's game.

In defence All-Star corner back Brendan Harrison is ruled out with injury. It is also expected thaty Footballer of the Year Lee Keegan will miss this game after his club Westport won their All-Ireland intermediate club semi-final last Sunday and are now due to play the final in Croke Park on Sunday, February 19. Last Sunday's victory for Westport also rules out Kevin Keane.

Mayo will be without the two O'Shea brothers, Seamie and Aidan, both injured. However, on the brighter note for Aidan, the ankle injury playing basketball for Sligo is not as bad as first though and that there is every chance of him returning to training before the end of the week.

Furthermore, here is a possibility of him being fit for the game against Kerry on Saturday week.

There is good news regarding Diarmuid O'Connor. The injury he has been carrying for some time is well on the mend and he can't be ruled out of taking part in the Monaghan game.

With so many regular players missing, an opportunity exists for others. It would be a surprise not to see Danny Kirby (midfield) and Fergal Boland (half forward) starting.

Both have been very impressive in Mayo's three FBD League outings. Another player expected to get game time is Breaffy's Liam Irwin.

However, it will be Friday, if not Saturday, before Stephen Rochford and his selectors name their starting 15.

SOME of Mayo's frontline players — including Aidan and Seamus O'Shea — are facing a race against time to be fit for the team's opening game of the National League against Monaghan on Saturday week next.
Neither of the Breaffy brothers played any part in Mayo's FBD League campaign, with Aidan forced to miss last Sunday's win over Roscommon after injuring his ankle in training early last week. Seamus is understood to be suffering from a knee injury.
Both O'Sheas will now be trying to prove their fitness to Mayo manager Stephen Rochford over the coming weeks, and the same goes for Young Footballer of the Year, Diarmuid O'Connor.
The Ballintubber forward hasn't played any competitive football yet this month, after injuring his hamstring in a colleges game with Dublin City University at the start of December.
Conor Loftus has also been sidelined since the start of the year with an injury.
Definitely out of Mayo's game against Monaghan are Brendan Harrison and Ger Cafferkey, who are both following rehabilitation programmes, while Chris Barrett and Michael Hall are also both on the long-term injured list.
Alan Dillon and Barry Moran are unlikely to be considered for selection after only returning from their respective honeymoons last weekend.
However, the news is more positive on both Colm Boyle and Alan Freeman, both of whom sat out the game against Roscommon.
Boyle was believed to be carrying a slight knock and wasn't risked while Freeman was stood down due to feeling unwell.
Caolan Crowe also didn't start last weekend's match due to an ankle injury.
Donie Vaughan will be available for selection against Monaghan after serving a one-game suspension in the FBD League while the availability of Westport duo Kevin Keane and Lee Keegan depends on how their club fares out in next Sunday's All-Ireland Intermediate club football semi-final.

Cunny Funt

From the starting 15 in the All Ireland final replay Mayo will only be missing Harrison, the two O Sheas and Lee Keegan. Diarmuid O Connor played for DCU last week. I'd say Monaghan are missing more players than that.

Rain 1/10   heavy rain 1/1

Seriously  >:( I've been to mcHale park once before (Dublin game last year) and got drowned. Going again this weekend - i'm a weather jinx

Would be worried with the full back line. No Caff, Harrison and Kevin Keane out for the next 2 weeks. If Monaghan have help with McManus then it won't be easy for Mayo.
Inaugural Football Championship Prediction Winner.

The stand is useless, in keeping you dry. The wind and rain blows straight in and soaks you, even if you are sitting a good way back. At least on the terrace, you can hunker down under your brolly....provided you don't block peoples view.

Are you one of those idiots who rush to reply to a post, without reading it in its entirety?

What part of even if you are sitting a good way back, did you not understand?

I'd be happy to explain it to you.  8)
