Believe what?

People were presenting themselves at the border with no verifiable identification-that's a fact!

Are we just to supposed to assume that everyone is telling the truth in terms of who they are and what their relationship is to the people they are traveling with?

Maybe you could put this "unaccompanied minor" up on your spare bedroom?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2021/11/04/illegal-immigrant-who-posed-as-minor-while-crossing-border-charged-with-murder/amp/

Then you do what you need to do to investigate. Same as was done before and, presumably, since Trump folded.

Your default blanket "zero tolerance" policy should NOT be to rip terrified kids out of their distraught parents arms and ship them off who the f**k knows where in the hopes of intimidating all others who might also try to cross.

Holding a supposedly 17 year old unaccompanied illegal immigrant you're not sure about is a hell of distance from stealing young kids and babies from their parents.

Honestly, I'm amazed that you, who nitpicks and assumes the very worst of anything the media or Dems ever do, are trying to defend a barbaric policy like this.

We share an indirect land border with hundreds of millions of people living in extreme poverty

An argument could be made that every single one of them would qualify for asylum

Arriving with children almost guarantees entry-that only encourages more people to come

Add in the fact that we cannot verify the identities of the vast majority of these people

Something administrations of both sides have been dealing with for years and years without resorting to treating those people like subhumans as a form of "deterrence".

1. What does any of that have to do with the discussion myself and whitey were having?

2. I would suggest you go and educate yourself on the policies of men like Robert Moses and his reign over the infrastructure of NYC and its suburbs,  but what would be the point? Sneer away.

We've covered this ground before

Unlike 99.99% of conservatives, I am actually I n favor of giving tens of millions of undocumented residents full legal status with a pathway to citizenship. This would be going against both my financial and political best interests, but it's the right thing to do

There would be no point in doing this unless we seal the border to illegal entrants

Let's absorb the people we currently have here illegally and get them on track.

No argument with any of that whitey. Increase the number and resources of border agents and the assorted specialists they need to handle migrants. Get all the electronic surveillance they need. Increase the capacity to deal, humanely, with asylum seekers.

There is a middle ground well short of confiscating young kids.

That sounds like a parody or piss-take which some ultra-gullible idiots (redundant, I know, when it comes to stuff like QAnon and Stop the Steal!) actually thought could be real!

Like, there's literally no way to defend this carry on, and why would anybody even try

The Trump regime openly defends a white supremacist murderer

So much for being pro-"law and order", it's pro-chaos and racist murder

There are no "legitimate questions" to ask about this, the Trump regime is pro-white supremacist terror and has always been so

Nazi comparisons are accurate and pertinent

DHS Memo Told Officials to Make Comments Favorable to Kenosha Shooting Suspect
DHS talking points obtained by NBC News show officials were told to speak sympathetically about Kyle Rittenhouse, the teen charged with killing two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin

Federal law enforcement officials were directed to make public comments sympathetic to Kyle Rittenhouse, the teenager charged with fatally shooting two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, according to internal Department of Homeland Security talking points obtained by NBC News.

In preparing Homeland Security officials for questions about Rittenhouse from the media, the document suggests that they note that he "took his rifle to the scene of the rioting to help defend small business owners."

Another set of talking points distributed to Homeland Security officials said the media were incorrectly labeling the group Patriot Prayer as racists after clashes erupted between the group and protesters in Portland, Oregon.
this  trial coming to an end today or tomorrow anyone following the testimony ?

I've been in my office for the past 2 weeks and pretty much listened to the entire thing

I'll be shocked if he's convicted of the most serious charges

Prosecutor screwed up big time

Seen a few headlines and read one or two reports that suggest he'll get off on self-defense, but other than that, no.

The US is fucked in the head when it comes to guns.

Dumb, ignorant kid crossing state lines with an assault rifle to do a bit of vigilanteing... nothing to see here.

whitey

He crossed state lines alright but didn't bring the gun with him-the gun was already in WI

He lives 20 minutes away from Kenosha in a town that abuts the border-the fact he crossed into another state is completely irrelevant.

That's like pointing out  someone went from Celbridge to Lucan-people do it all the time and probably some do it several times a day

That being said, he should get 20/30 years in jail IMHO. He had no business being there

The problem is that the prosecutor overcharged him and in the process turned it into a self defense case. I just can't see how they can reach an unanimous verdict in this

Well crossing the state line with a weapon is obviously irrelevant then if he didn't in fact bring the weapon across state lines. :)

Like I said, I haven't been paying too much attention.

But my anger would be more towards the parents and adults in his life, letting a stupid kid get into that situation with a weapon like that.

Can't comment much beyond that - it wouldn't surprise me in the least if what he did was legal given US gun laws. If the prosecutor screwed up by overcharging, then obviously Kenosha needs to look at its DA office.

It's completely ar$e backwards

He wasn't even breaking the law by being in possession of the gun. That got thrown out yesterday due to the length of the barrel

Mother should face jail time - bringing him to a bar to drink beer and hang out with a group of "Proud Boys" while flashing white supremacy signs is just a further example of her bad judgement

The bold is a perfect example of parents today, they want to be pals with their kids and not a parent.

Also reminds me of a sign I saw many years ago.....Stupid people shouldn't Breed.

I have been watching the majority of this trial as I'm home due to Covid and the prosecutor did screw this up but the lesser felony charges should have convictions.

If this kid wasn't there no one would have died.
