Always or nearly always the same teams every year that enter this competition as it comes very early for some....

I suppose it serves some purpose

It is held annually as a mark of respect to members of the Kelly family who tragically lost their lives in a road traffic accident in February 2000. Aunts and cousin of former laois and St Joseph footballers Tom,Stephen, Colm and Diurmuid. The Kelly family kindly donated the tournament trophy.

Is that went the tournament started I think the accident was years earlier.  I like the tournament even though were never that hot in it.

I didn't mean to be rude and i was aware why it was started I was just saying it's not for every team and its nearly always the same teams that enter it every year that's all...

LAOIS ABÚ

Laois fan

With new rules kicking in as in under 17s no longer allowed play, county minors ineligible till out of championship and being so early in the year I can see a lot of teams struggling to field. Is there any reason for it beginning so early this year

Buffalobull

Couldn't see clubs entering without making sure they had enough players available to at least field a team each week. At the same time I wouldn't be surprised if there's points given for being unable to field a team!

I see both Arles,s have already given walkovers after only one round. It indicates the plight of both these clubs regarding player numbers ....both should eat humble pie and amalgamate to secure the future of football in the area.

Junior Ex Laoistalk

I fully agree with that, it would be better for both teams and for Laois football as a whole..
