Whats your budget?

400-450 max GBP

Are these 2in1 type any good whereby they are both laptop and tablet....

I personally would rather just go for a smaller sized laptop (like 13 inch)- get better bang for your buck.

Tablet pc's prone to damage and cant embrace that much data, which doesn't really suit if you have  loads of film and videos.

If your streaming loads make sure you have a good network card/Wireless to get the best out of your broadband. At a minimum I would make sure you have 8GB of RAM, at least 2.00 GHz processor and 1TB of storage should be more than enough storage.

Have bought machines of PC world before and signed up for there Know How cover plan - 7.99  a month or something. Definitely worth having in my opinion and it has saved me a few times!

Saying as this is for me and not an actual present, would I best to hold out until after Christmas?

I have seen this laptop and it looks pretty good (people have told me though that 4gb RAM isn't great?)

Like I say, it will be mainly used for lots of word processing and a bit of streaming/youtube.

Would I be as best going for this or holding out for a better deal in the after Christmas sales?

I know the Asus has a better processor and more memory (and of course cheaper) but what is the make like in comparison to HP?

I've never had Asus for a laptop before but had a tablet that read absolutely brilliant. Haven't heard anyone with complaints.

Have had an Asus N56V for the last 16 months or so. No problems so far

Would anyone consider buying a grade A refurbished 13" Apple MacBook of Woucher. See link below for it's details, i believe it to be last years model or possibly the year before?

I was hoping some of you computer men/women could advise...BTW it's only needed for general stuff that young ones do these days not for photography or editing etc

I was looking at options for photos. With digital you can run up a lot of file space especially if you take videos. I think the best option is an external drive. Laptop pricing seems to be focused on file space. You might pay €150 for what you can get elsewhere for €20. And laptops are built to fail.

What is the story with refurbished (Grade A) though?

The one in the link is ancient! The white ones are gone for at least 4 years.

2GB Ram is small, my old MacBook Pro has 8, and 500GB storage.

I would pass.

Sorry I should have added some proof: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacBook

Count the ports on the left hand side.

My 4 year old model has 4, plus a headphones socket. Apple keep reducing them so the one in the ad is older.
