And now to Cavan.. This will be tight. McGleenon reckons D Hughes'll feature (insider information?), will K Hughes last the distance? So many questions...

mrdeeds

Cavan have question marks over some players and I'm not even sure we know our strongest 15 and what positions to play them. League gave us more questions than answers. Monaghan by 4.

Itchy

Don't fancy us at all. I am hearing Cavan's injury problems are not good.

Jinxy

If you were any use you'd be playing.

Who won this game?

A draw, as was the replay. Second replay on next Sunday.

It must be all the Mushrooms.

I think we've had our "now that's a turn up for the books" result already when we beat Tyrone or Mayo.  Hope I'm wrong but Indd say the bookies' odd are on Monaghan.  If we are winning towards the end, I hope we don't a Down on it and start going laterally trying to run the clock down.  Or Armagh's ploy of trying to go for goals when a point would seem easier to score.

Westside

Cavan with big injury concerns and dealing with the sudden death of one of their backroom team (RIP Dominic Early) aren't in a good place.

Monaghan are just a better side pretty much all over the field. The Farney by 6, but they'll work for it.

I have lived in important places, times
When great events were decided, who owned
That half a rood of rock, a no-man's land
Surrounded by our pitchfork-armed claims.
I heard the Duffys shouting "Damn your soul!"
And old McCabe stripped to the waist, seen
Step the plot defying blue cast-steel -
"Here is the march along these iron stones."
That was the year of the Munich bother. Which
Was more important? I inclined
To lose my faith in Ballyrush and Gortin
Till Homer's ghost came whispering to my mind.
He said: I made the Iliad from such
A local row. Gods make their own importance.

Patrick Kavanagh

the goal was on

Cavan played Galway couple of weeks ago and only players missing were Clarke and dara mc veety, word is the Black Death has returned and Cavan could be more defensive than ever! Expect monaghan to return the favour, could be a thriller!! 9 each

His a great poem by a great poet. But even he got his hole sickened by Monaghan.

Your quote is akin to the name of the poem, Epic.

'Oh stony grey soil of Monaghan, you sicken my hole.'

Indeed Jinxy, I think that sums up his poetry alright. In fact, if he had just said that it would have saved us a whole lot of hassle in the leaving cert.

Anyway ya Monaghan hoors, here is some real poetry by the legendary Bard himself, Declan Nerney..
