After 2 international Mens & Ladies Gaelic Football matches were shown live on Galician Language TV channel CRTVG back in March the channel is gearing up to show some club action.

The Iberian Championship Finals (The Spanish equivalent of the All-Ireland Finals) are taking place in A Coruna on Saturday, June 3rd and the Mens & Ladies finals matches will be shown live on CRTVG as well as streamed live on the channel's website.

I'll post a link to the live stream once I have it but while you wait you can get more details by clicking the link below:

Great to see something like this happening.  I watched the last telivised games and the attendance, picture quality and games themselves were very impressive.
I think football is/will grow quickly in places like this where people can actually watch games.

Well done again to all involved, really great to see this..
I used to be indecisive but now I'm not too sure.

For anyone looking to watch the live stream of the matches you'll be able to watch it at the link below from 3:15PM Irish Time. Mens final is at 3:30PM and the Ladies at 4:25PM

Will do! Hurling is really taking off in Germany of all places so hopefully we'll see a station pick it up there one day!

Handball, the European style of the game, is big in Germany so I wonder whether there's a link between the wrist work in that and in hurling. Probably nothing in it but I know the Germans are big into it. Tennis is significant in Germany too so that would help in racket/hurl skills. Though I'm probably completely off the wall and it's all ex pat Irish!!!

I might have a look at the streams you posted out of curiosity. Not a football lover to be honest but would be interesting to see the standard in Europe.

Btw, how long do they play? If men's starts at 330 and women's at 425 that's not even an hour.

AJ6000

The bulk of the hurling teams in Germany are nearly all non-Irish players. There was a German Native Hurling team at the last edition of the World Games in Dublin.

Because of the travel distances involved for nearly all European sides, 99% of the time we have tournaments where all the teams meet up in one place. Matches are 11-a-side and are usually 10 or 12.5 minutes a half with Semi-Finals & Finals usually being 15 minutes a half. It might not sound like much but depending on the tournament you could easily play 2hrs of Football or Hurling throughout a whole day.

I for one would not object if the GAA spent a few million putting in proper GAA pitches in the likes of A Coruna, and the middle of France and wherever else there can be demand for it. It would be money better spent than sprucing up shitholes around the country in the hopes of hosting a rugby match.

How mutually intelligible is Galician with other Romance languages? For some reason I thought it was similar to Celtic but watching there I note it's similarity to Italian (which I'm fluent in) and French (which I'm probably intermediate in). Certainly not close enough for me to understand it fully but not so foreign as for me to just have it go over my head.

Madrid Harps won by nine and the standard was decent.

I couldn't even say! French is my second language and I've very basic Spanish but I struggle a bit with the Galician!

Madrid beat Irmandinhos A Estrada in the Mens final 3-9 (18) - 0-9 (9)

Ladies Final up next! Between 2 Galician teams Irmandinhas A Estrada and the hosts Fillas do Breogan. Both teams should be close to if not 100% natives

Kilkevan

That's not fair! Neville Southall is in goal for the blue and white women's team!
