1-8 Wexford 3-19 Monaghan 55 minutes

14 different scorers for Monaghan

and 3-18 so far from play out of 3-21. thats impressive and with carlow/tipp/armagh/westmeath to come you'd fancy them to have a bit of a run through the qualifiers now

Straightforward for Monaghan but that's the way it should look in all honesty when you have two teams that played in Division 1 and Division 4 this year respectively. It's been a criticism of us many times that we're not ruthless enough in pulling away from teams, so it was good to see us run up a score.

We won't be getting carried away obviously but it was a good run out for the team, and we played fair chunks of the game without some key players so it was good to use the squad more. 15 different players getting on the scoreboard is encouraging, and it's a bit mad that we scored 3 goals and they were all scored by defenders!

Much tougher tests lie ahead but that was a great response to the Down defeat, especially when you look at how we reacted to getting knocked out of Ulster last year.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/northern-ireland/40543691  Cavan fall apart

Cavan are an embarrassment. After years of steady progress we have been taken backwards. New manager has managed 2 competitive wins this year and he just doesn't seem up to the task and no amount of auld uber positive crap will change that.

Have to agree,  they looked strong and focused v Tyrone in McKenna cup, I know it was only the McKenna cup, but still....

Seen a stat on Twitter there that today was the first match McManus didn't score in since May 2009 when he was playing wing-forward - he'd scored in 85 consecutive starts until today.

Himself and Jeff Stelling are over on a GAA promo tour. They were commentating on a Kerry u16 match, we're in Tyrone's new training complex yesterday and touring the country today.

I'd say Omagh Gael is just carrying their luggage.
