What yous think? I probably left some very obvious candidates out.
I think Mcgeeney would be the obvious choice of player who Lifted the team most and was the most consistent. McGrane would run a close second
McConville - lost count of the number times he has hit big winners down through the years
Marsden hasn't been playing for Armagh for a third of a decade however I'd place him well above the others in terms of ability. Depends on your definition of best.
I suppose 'Best' is the player you would miss the most if not available for a match.
Is Jarlath Burns not worthy of a mention?

Oisin McConville .he's been the bane of many's a team.
Geezer has been the heart of the Armagh Team for at least 8 years!
Voted for Geezer with Paul McGrane I would suggest closest. Oisin was immense up to 2003 whilst Stevie has been immense since 2002. To my mind, they are the only four that could be considered for such an accolade.

For me its McGeeney with McGrane a very close second. Both are the driving force behind that side.
Oisin had been a match winner many a day for us and if we are asked this question in 4 years time i'd say we will be saying either Stevie or Clarke if he keeps going in the form he was in this year.

And of course the point just before HT in the 2002 final, what a vital score. Still think we would have won the 2003 final if he hadn't been wrongly sent off.

Marsden is the best player for Armagh by a Country mile with flappy sitting in second, dont confuse the best player with the most influencial player because for me that would have to be Geezer with McConville a close second.
Geezer is nowhere near as talented football wise and marsden or flappy but he drove us to sam in 02 and his legacy will say that he was one of the most important players of the current era no matter what county team you play for.

Have to agree with you there, marsden was a fantastic footballer for the county, and that point as was mentioned before was crucial to the outcome of Armagh winning the all ireland! McConville second!
1) PTG is renowned as one if not the greatest Gaelic Footballer ever.
2) for years the cathedral quarters have touted Steve o as being as good as Mr C. He even won the Player of the year in 2003.
3) Surely then this cant even be a close vote...
4) How can anyone vote for Francie with a straight face.

McGeeney for me has been without doubt the best Armagh player of the past decade with McGrane and McConville fighting it out for second.
Geezer was the leader, but Óisín got the scores

1983 lynchbhoy. a black day that was. many laughs were had however when down got dumped out in the first round of the ulster a couple of weeks later by fermanagh :D although armagh then got dumped out in the first round a few weeks after that :( dark days.
