GAA Discussion / Re: GAA TV

I'd be absolutely delighted if such a station were to be introduced, but I'm not sure how much of a moneymaker it would be. However, would such a station detract from RTÉ's current GAA programming? If people are getting proper coverage of all the Championship, Club and League matches as they would on such a channel, I doubt anyone would want to watch something like Sunday Sport where the overall coverage is much poorer. RTÉ might then have a bit of a problem with it.

The crowd for the Wexford match against Laois was very poor - less than half of what was there for the Armagh game. I can't imagine there'll be a Wexford crowd of any decent size there for the Fermanagh game, considering people will assume the management won't really take it seriously.

I'd like to say that our relegation this year is a result of missing a lot of players, but I really can't justify that. The only players we've been missing for the most or all of the League that I can recall are Red Barry and Adrian Morrissey, though Matty Forde, Philip Wallace and Brendan Doyle have missed a few matches too. There are a few positives from the campaign, though, not enough to overshadow the effect on confidence that we'll see in the Championship this year.

I'm rather pleased with how the season tickets have worked so far, even though I didn't really save any money on it. I haven't had any major worries, though I'd say that if I was running late for a game, I might get pretty agitated trying to find the right gate.

Clutching at straws indeed! To be fair, if we somehow give Laois and Fermanagh a walloping (win by about ten points in each game), and Laois and Fermanagh lose their other games, then we might stay up on goal difference! Hard to see it happening, though. It's an absolutely appalling record though - the closest we've been to a team at the final whistle was eight points. I don't think there'll be too many fearing us this year.

If the championship ends up being as disappointing as the league has been, I wonder if there'll be many in the county calling for Jason Ryan's head. With the county board being the way it is, it doesn't seem too strange a prospect, but it'd be hard to fire someone in whom the players have such a belief.

Come on Carlow. Antrim's defeat would be superb for Wexford who are beating Westmeath quite well. Such a result would really open up division 2.

The win we threw against Meath may just be our death knell in Division 2. We need to win the lats three games to stand a chance of staying up, but I don't see us beating Cork next week. If we had won, we would have been in an excellent position to stay up, with Laois and Fermanagh being our final two games. As it stands, we'll need to beat them both by 10 or 15 points if we're to have a hope!

I'm not feeling particularly confident about the Meath game after the events in Newbridge yesterday. I haven't seen much of Meath, aside from the poor performance against Cork in dreadful conditions, but I don't know what to think, considering I really expected us to defeat Kildare. The forwards were poor, particularly  PJ Banville and Adrian Flynn who were downright dreadful - I don't fancy either of them getting their place for the next game. That said, with such limited options as we currently seem to be, it's difficult to see who'll replace them, with Matty and Red out. I would expect Diarmuid Kinsella to start the next game at least. Matty only has bruised ribs, so hopefully he'll be back by Sunday. I'm not sure what the story is with Brendan Doyle or why he missed the last game, but hopefully himself and Eric Bradley will get the two midfield positions, they seem to be the most capable. The confidence of the whole team must have taken an awful beating over the last few games, being beaten by 13, 8 and 17 points in each of them, and I'd be rather worried about how they respond to it.

Well, from what I've been told, Wexford Creamery were happy to continue being the sponsors, but as the county board is so heavily in debt, I guess they were under pressure to make more from the sponsorship deal.

That new sponsor on the Wexford jerseys is hideous.

here here

Totally agree there, although the fact that they're just plastered over the old sponsor is only temporary - there's a new jersey coming out in two weeks or so. That said, I can't imagine it'll look a whole lot better on the new one, whatever it's like. "Sports Savers" is such a terrible name for a company anyway, I wish we'd stuck with Wexford Creamery.
