Mine is:
Mistle Toe and Wine
Stay Another Day
Bohemian Rhapsody
Although it is the only song to be uk christmas number 1 twice by the same artist. I don't consider Bohemian Rhapsody to be a christmas song.
Fairytale of New York has to be in my top 3. I don't really know what the other 2 would be.
Johnny Mathis - When A Child Is Born
Christy Moore - Fairytale of New York
Mud - Lonely This Christmas
It'll be lonely this Christmas - the Kerry footballers
Adeste Fideles - The Quality Street big band
Feliz Navidad- Donald Trump featuring ICE
Fairytale of New York - Pogues
Little drummer boy - David Bowie and Bing Crosby
Driving home for Christmas - Chris Rea
Then a bit of Slipknot or "System of a down" to redress some balance
Brenda Lee's Rocking around the Christmas Tree. Excellent in Home Alone.
Brenda Fricker was then excellent in Home Alone 2.
Tenuous link.

A few anti war ones for me
Arthur McBride and the Sergeant - Paul Brady live version from Liberty Tapes
Happy XMas War is Over - John Lennon
Stop the Calvary - Jona Lewie

Back in '86, I had to get up in front of the whole school and their families and sing this song by myself, all whilst banging a little toy tin drum. Hated the song ever since.
Always liked Last Christmas by George Michael, it would be my favourite.
Probably Thank God it's Xmas by Queen then Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea
Someone reassure me that I'm not the only person in Ireland who doesn't really like fairytale of New York
1. I Believe in Father Christmas - Greg Lake
2. December Will Be Magic Again - Kate Bush
3. Gaudete - Steeleye Span
1. Fairytale of New York - The Pogues and Kirsty McColl......Just a masterpiece.
2. "O' Holy night" - Any good singer though I prefer a tenor for this song. It gets the hairs standing on the back of the neck for me.
3. "All I want for Christmas" - Mariah Carey. It's fun, it's lively....get's people buzzing.
1. Dropkick Murphys - The seasons upon us
2. Coldplay - Christmas lights ;D
3. 2000 miles - The Pretenders
3 is not enough tbf, Last Christmas, FONY, All alone on Christmas from Home Alone, the list is endless. So many Christmas yossi's out there, it s hard to condense a list down
I hate X factor for what it done to Christmas numbers 1's
On that, is there any new or recent Christmas songs that we will be listening to in 20 years?
I think my favourites are those that transports you back to your younger years when Christmas was a more innocent time. And not the commercial debt-inducing fecked up monstrosity you realise it is as an adult. Bah humbug! :D
So for me it's:
Pogues and Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale of New York
Wham - Last Christmas
Band Aid - Do they know it's Christmas?

Modern Christmas songs have been relatively poor. If I had to pick a couple I'd guess at:
Coldplay - Christmas Lights
Kelly Clarkson - Underneath the Tree
Songs like Lily Allen's version of Somewhere Only We Know could be popular at Christmas due to their association with TV ads but aren't necessarily Christmas songs.
Fairytale of NY
Fairytale of NY Live
Fairytale of NY cover
More Seriously
Fairytale of NY- Pogues
Run Run Rudolph- Chuck Berry
Christmas Eve/Sarajevo- Trans Siberian Orchestra
Bob Dylan Here comes Santa Claus. (https://open.spotify.com/track/0X9Sqk8kISEzGCrSTm8FOt?si=RBrWSbD5SYmDA9PFkI0O1w)

The Darkness had a decent once there, maybe 5 years ago that seems to be going rightly --- I actually looked that up, it was back in 2003.

Rage against the machine, Killing in the name has to be one of the top Christmas songs for stopping whatever manufactured song Simon Cowell told the public make number one.

Once or twice is enough every Xmas. Around the 21st or so when you finish. Not 5,000 times which it inevitably is.

Is it true that Cowell had shares in RATM's record label?
If he did that was really socking it to the enemy!

I'm the same, it's played out. If it comes on the radio it is straight off.
Though, if it comes on a night out in December and I've a few in me I would be loving it, though that's probably the same with any Christmas song.
1. Stop the Cavalry
2. Driving home for Christmas

This immediately reminded me of East 17, Stay Another Day....thanks for ruining my day.
It's an xmas song too isn't it
Those Spice Girls xmas no 1's were all annoying as feck. And it's only looking back now you rememberhow feckin' annoying they were.
Santa Claus is coming to town by the Jackson 5 is another annoying song. Mickey J had one annoyingly squeaky voice as a youngster.
