Good win but jaysus we're so porous at the back. Good effort from Kildare with 14 men. Ridiculous sending off unless he was warned in advance. The gum shield rule is a good one however enforcement is not consistent and Kildare will rightly feel aggrieved. Flukey goal from Ryan McHugh the difference in the end.

Is that good luck as in 'Good bye'?

Suspect that pic is from before the AI last year? There were loads of signs out in Monaghan wishing Donegal the best. While we were all very disappointed with the result, everyone was delighted for the people of Monaghan.

GAA Discussion / Re: season tickets

Had a poor enough seat on Sunday. I was in the Pat McGrane stand section, 4 rows back and about 3-4 metres from the half way line. The TV camera that was located at half way blocked my view of the goal on my RHS. I had to watch all the action down that end on the TV screen on my right.
Not the end of the world but still a bit annoying for a season ticket.

I presume we'll be ...

Durkan
McGrath, N McGee, E McGee
Declan Walsh, McGlynn, Thompson
Kavanagh, Bradley
McHugh, McLoone, David Walsh
McFadden, Murphy, McBrearty

Lacey to come on after 45 minutes to steady the ship.

Lacey named to start  :D
Durcan;
McGrath, N McGee, E McGee;
Thompson, Lacey, McGlynn;
Kavanagh, Bradley;
McHugh, McLoone, David Walsh;
McBrearty, Murphy, McFadden.
McLoone, David Walsh; McBrearty, Murphy, McFadden.

McGuinness's next tactical masterplan is to start with 20 players!

He's going to kill me when he finds out that I let the cat out of the bag  :-[

Has anyone ever replaced brake pads/rear brake discs themselves?

Yes, very straight forward even for a casual "mechanic" like myself.

I think the new format is working well. Great to see Malin through. Glenties need to have a good look at themselves. A few years back they looked like they were going to dominate and instead they have slipped further and further back.

Ye Mayo lads aren't such Hardy Bucks after all. Eddie Durkan at centre-forward is the only way to go now.

Dunno if it's been mentioned in here before but I just finished the Sisters Brothers by Patrick DeWitt. Very good.

Breffini was pretty packed for Down v Donegal, attendance of around 22K.  32K is way off the mark.

Did the 22K include children who get in free to Ulster games?
There was room for another few thousand in any case.

There was, I think 25 was the total on the day. There was still plenty of spaces behind the goals and lower sides of the terraces.

32 is the full capacity.

There certainly wasn't plenty of space. The TV platform took up a bit of space but I fail to see how 32k could have safely fitted into the ground.

Yeah, I meant to ask that. Don't see how any more than 3-4k more could have fitted into Breffni that day. What is the official capacity? 32?

Yis will be fighting this battle all year (Donegal) lads and it will probably get worse next year with the new rules.
It's part and parcel of being AI champs (as far as I can remember).

I've been on the board for more than a decade and its always been this way, especially with other Ulster teams!

If there were more Donegal members on the board, then perhaps some of us would always be crying about the referee every game as well.

No we wouldn't. We're above that sort of stuff.  8)

It's interesting to read Jim's comments about the vibe coming from the stand.
"People were saying are Donegal going to have the bottle. I could feel that coming from the stands."

I certainly could sense a fear in the Donegal crowd. The accumulating errors, the unceasing intensity from Down, the forced and unforced substitutions ... for about 10 minutes in the 2nd half you could feel the supporters beginning to think that party was about to end. I hasten to add that it's wasn't driven by cockiness. In fact, all the talk before the game was about how Down were really going to put it up to us and how the media were well off with their predictions. But we've become accustomed to seeing the lads able to up it when required and for a while it looked like that wasn't going to happen. If Down had tagged on a few points at that stage - to draw level for example, I think that would have been the winning of the game for them. Instead the ship was settled (by McFadden and Ryan McHugh mainly) and the "fear" was gone for the last 5-10 minutes. I found interesting that Jim picked up on that vibe too. I wonder do the players sense the emotion of the crowd or are they completely oblivious to it?
