Wenger speaks out over allegations

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has spoken out after allegations concerning his private life were carried in a national newspaper.
The football manager said the claims were a "serious matter" that he wished to deal with "privately".

Arsenal Football Club echoed the sentiment, calling for Wenger and his family's privacy to be respected.
The comments follow a front page article in The Sun containing allegations surrounding the 61-year-old's personal life.

Responding to the story, Wenger said in a statement: "This is a very serious matter. I do not intend to make any comment and wish to deal with the matter privately."

A club statement read: "Arsenal Football Club considers the allegations concerning our manager Arsene Wenger strictly a private matter and we ask that the privacy of Arsene and his family be respected."

O'Neill I thought this thread had more class than that....who cares really 

I'm afraid that's not the way with the world in 2010, Dinny, as much as we'd like to ignore it. These things can spiral out of proportion and often have some side effects. Wenger has been manager for a generation and is the sole figurehead for the club. From my POV, it'll be interesting to see if this has any effect on the great man and how he deals with it.

Good chance there's nothing in it/a business friend but sure isn't it great to have a bit of character about the place.

But he's French, even he is having an affair it's part of their psych. I understand where you are coming from and from that perspective it will be interesting telling but it's The Arsenal they're not media whores and will close ranks and the story will probably filter out...
