Probably explained by saying this is one of the weakest Premier Leagues in quite some time. It would explain that run, how United are on top despite being at their weakest for some time and how the promoted sides are more than safe. The gap to the top clubs in the Championship is minimal.

Chelsea progressing nicely in the champions league but can't get into the top four of this weak premier league. Utd had a bad year in europe but were in 3 of the last four champion league finals.

I just don't buy this weak league fad.
