As a Cavan man would really want to know what so Louth posters really think of Andrews. We have a good crop of you'd lads now but Andrews seems to be bullshitting in his call of the shots. Does he know anything about football.??? I don't rate him. Any opinions from Louth posters who saw him at first hand???

Just by way of introducing a bit of early balance into this debate we have a limited enough group of young lads coming through. The last three years have been about the most shameful in the history of Cavan senior football over the last 20 years. Two previous managers talked about the need to clean out a number of non performers on the panel, Val Andrews has acted on that, for the moment. The general consensus among Cavan posters on this board over the past 12 months has been that it will probably have to get worse before it gets better but a lot of people would be willing to take pain for a year or two if we had a group of lads who were at least putting everything in for the jersey.

So don't let anybody for one moment think that we have a group of absolute world beating young lads here who are potentially being held back by Val Andrews. The facts are that were are at close to rock bottom at the moment and he has gone for youth. Some of that youth has underage success with Cavan but have difficulty holding down a colleges spot with the likes of DCU, Sligo IT. Of course there are somewhat older lads hanging around the place the Richie would like to see reintroduced into the panel but in fairness their contribution when given the chance has, in many cases been patchy.

My concern now AC is how long will young lads keep putting in that effort if they don't see or feel an improvement. I would have have huge question marks about the training/coaching that is going on with these young lads over the past few months. Sure they are no world beaters but to improve and develop they need guidance. Looking at our sideline tonight I got no sense that that was coming from anywhere.

So if Andrews isn't up to the job the County Executive should replace him, whetehr it be after the Chapionship or after the league but when he is in the saddle he should have every players backing.
It does not matter if you bring in Mick O'Dwyre or Mickey Harte, if there are players who believe pulling on the Jersey is all about raising their profile and not the betterment of Cavan football then the manager is on a loser.

Andrews needs to be shown the gate this week,if 2012 is going to be rescued.
If not book your flights for Ruislip in 2013 early and you might get good value.

I dont subscribe to the idea that things will or have to get worse before they can get better. If we look at counties like Galway, Derry, Monaghan,Meath, Mayo ect all in transition and with managers in either their first or second term. These teams can still pull out the odd result here and their to show slight improvement and to show that change is on the way for the better.Even promoted teams like Longford are passing us out.
There has been no improvement since the TC era. We started again this year after starting last year too. Not even ONE result to show and slight improvement.
Yes its easy to slate manager and yes ive done that plenty but i would be the first to hold my hand up and admitt i was wrong if Andrews turns it around,
Seemingly we have to rely on beating Sligo, Antrim, Offaly to retain out Div3 status.

We had a clearout, dropping so called "prima donnas", players that were supposedly too old ect. Now it seems  management might be brnging 2 of these disgarded players back.
We scored 4 points from play against Longford
Last week we scored 1-13 and the Manager tried to justify that it was good enough to win any game.
Yes it is but only when the opposition score less Val.

Andrews was headhunted by the county board 18 months ago.Nobody else was interviewed because they were hell bent on giving him the job.
Everything was rushed through in a week.
Thankfully the clubs can have their say in a review after this year.
There is more than Andrews that need shifting. If clubs dont wake up well a potentially talented committed bunch of young lads will become lost to the game in Cavan.
Andrews got sole control like he wanted but sad to say he is totally out of his dept.
