General discussion / Border Hopping - Tax Help
January 05, 2012, 01:10:25 PM
Looking for some advice as I am sure this situation is not unique on here.

I live in the South but work in the North, my payslip still has ny old Northern address though, I now think I should change this to keep it correct.
Are there any tax implications for me though?

General discussion / Prime Time Suspended

Not sure if this has been mentioned on here, shocked if it hasn't.  What a complete journalistic fcuk up, if it wasn't a Priest in the dock I would daresay there would be a lot more people apoplectic.

Good old Sepp has done it again!  I wonder if he will be forced out though?  He seems to have massive support from most of the national associations apart from the brits who have been on a mission to get him out since the 2018 debacle.

How the hell does this man get away with it so many times??  Is the joke wearing thin and he is just a dirty old man or is he to be admired??

You would think they could sort this out amicably rather than in public.

General discussion / On-line Diary for Office
September 08, 2010, 09:22:52 AM
Need some help, does anyone know of any good websites that you can use to keep a diary of things like appointments, phone messages etc in an office setting?
I know Outlook do things like this but was thinking more of a web based application.

What do you all make of the guy in Belfast who was sacked and re-instated from Asda for the Sash comment?
Turns out he murdered two catholic brothers in the 1970's.

The mob mentality prevalent in Loyalism came to the fore again at the protests with intimidation of shoppers according to local reports from people in the area.  Crowds shouting abuse at people as they attempted to park in the area etc.

The one thing for sure is that Asda made a pigs ear of the whole affair.

Watched a great documentary on BBC4 the past two nights about Live Aid, interviews with 'Sir' Bob, Midge Ure etc and with a lot of the artists who played.  Was very good, some interesting things that came up.  Led Zeppelin refused to ever allow any clips of their performance to be shown since as they felt it was so poor, however they blame Phil Collins as he was forced upon them to play drums on their set at Philadelphia.
Daryl Hall was interviewed backstage at Philly at the time also and he said some artists were hypocrites for supporting Live Aid whilst they were happy to get paid to play in Apartheid South Africa, when pressed he named Rod Stewart and Queen.

Anyone on the board attend the original Live Aid?  Some of our older posters would have been mad keen to attend a gig like that I would have thought.

General discussion / The 'I was there' thread
July 01, 2010, 09:42:40 AM
I have seen a few of these recently and it got me thinking.
There are people who have claimed to be at a particular sporting event, music concert or historic occasion that has down the years gained cult status and as a result the attendance at said event has escalated to ridiculous proportions.
For example the Oasis gig at the Limelight on the night Def Maybe hit number one in 1994, or the 200,000 who claim to have been in Thomond Park the day the All Blacks were slayed in 1978.
Any others or more importantly has anyone here been at such an occasion?

General discussion / Gerry Adams Documentary
June 29, 2010, 10:17:52 AM
Barbara Streisland likes him anyway, decent show last night about Gerry.  He likes planting things too, wonder where he got that from??
In fairness the reaction of the Protestant clergymen mirrored their reaction to the Saville report, people like Ken Newell and Harold Good showed the sort of leadership lacking amongst Unionist politicians for far too long.
Alan McBride also showed great dignity after all he has been through.

The cynic would say Dan and a mate got together after last week's events but I wouldn't possibly suggest such a thing.

General discussion / Man Missing in Larne Lough

Didn't see this posted anywhere, bloody tragic story. 2 weeks before his wedding, his family were on the news last night and are totally distraught as you can imagine.   He was not wearing a lifebelt which is hard to believe though and should serve as warning to anyone who ventures out to sea like this.
