Clare 0-10 Antrim 1- 11  game over

I hear CJ McGourty scored a screamer. This lad has taken to inter-county football rightly. The most talented 19 year old in the county by a mile.

Was at this game. Clare were very lively & busy for the first half, but for all their possession & snappy movement were incapable of converting it into sufficient scores. It was noticeable that although sluggish to start, Antrim were the bigger more physical team, who were playing a much tougher brand of football than the Bannermen.

The Saffrons came into it more in the second half, with Joe Quinn fielding well at midfield & getting through a lot of good work.

Conor McGourty was Antrim's sharpshooter, with some smart off the ball movement at lcf & a sharp eye for a score. Looks like a great prospect, required very little room or encouragement to go for scores. For the goal, which came at a crucial time in the game, he took a good pass at speed about 25M out. Bearing down on goal from the left, he slotted a daisycutter into the far corner past the advancing Clare keeper.

Antrim made good use of their subs in disrupting Clare's rhythm for what was left thereafter & also, didn't delay in subbing their lads as soon as they picked up yellow cards.

Entertaining game & deserved win for Antrim. I'd imagine Clare will be very disappointed with their second half performance though.

Donegal miss a first minute penalty.

HT Donegal 0-9 Westmeath 0-6

Donegal the better side and should be further ahead, with Connaughton making a few good saves, including a penalty. Against the breeze for the second half. All to play for.

FT Donegal 1-13 Westmeath 1-8 (Westmeath's goal came with last kick).

Still there! ;D
