Och noo thats no very friendly  ;D

Its funny you mentioned fair Caledonia, I was only going to suggest a new international competition between Ireland, Scotland and Ulster, with each nation playing their variant of the game. Could be popular.

I'll be as "friendly" as you want to be sir, and I'm more than willing to inform you of the Gaeilge Irishness of Uladh (Ulster), the last true Irish province to be subjugated by your crown, and only by being overwhelmed by those planted on the soil to dispossess the natives. Just give me the invitation, and a whole history lesson awaits your good self.  :)

The hurling in Londonderry is in an atrocious state. This needs to be addressed to enable Ulster teams to compete effectively with the Irish ones. Have yous no pride?

You're lost, clueless, and confused. Go home... to Scotland!

That's all about right Fuzzman, though in relation to the Fermanagh game I'd have Hub starting in the middle, I don't think he's doing all that badly, and definitely moving in the right direction -- we need his presence there, and might need a bit more bulk in the half-forwards too.

They were a credit to all, best of luck to them.

Football: Mayo (Donegal No. 2)
Hurling: Waterford (Clare No. 2)

Couldn't begrudge any of them.

Bumping this up a last time folks, just in case anybody missed it last week.

Don't agree that the Rubicon would only be crossed when it's a question of either working or playing for a living; I think it will be crossed when it's pay-for-play, effectively or otherwise, where players might practically, potentially, or theoretically withhold their services until payment's rendered... not a pleasant vista, if not quite appalling.

Just how do Tyrone look like a destination for Sam in 07???

Perhaps in the same way we looked like a good bet for Sam in 2005... after getting beaten well by Kerry in the last game of the League, and getting beaten by Wexford in the League semi-finals!  We've won 2 of the last four, and only Kerry has equalled that.  You really should lose that chip.

There is no chip at all.....

Tyrone have shown no form in last 12 -18 months to be seen as a destination for this years All-Ireland...
They have lost players since then through retirement, others have been permantly injured and others have lost form..
If Cavanagh, Mcguigan, Gormley, McMahon, Mulligan, O'Neill, Dooher etc are all fully fit and playing to their best it is possible - but when has this last happened and McGuigan could be a good while away from being in top form...

We should have the vast majority of the recent AI winners available, with the obvious notable exceptions, and I'd hope all of the 2005 winners with the one obvious exception, and with the addition of a few of the U21s -- I think that that's where the bookies are coming from. There's a good period now to get fully fixed, focused and fit.

In 2005 we showed no real form in the previous 12-18 months either, but that's only when it started, and I think we have shown in patches in 2007, only in patches, that there's still something there.

It will suit of course, that we're written off so completely, so  I shouldn't be complaining  ;)

All been said, well done Mayo, thanks Kerry, work needed Tyrone.

We were on top, perhaps more comfortably than the score reflected, for three quarters of the game... till Muggsy's head-stagger; I've said enough about the standard of NFL refereeing already, but we really need refs who have the competence to apply the rules consistently for 70 minutes, he looked like an apprentice, and didn't seem to know what was what at times (Frank Flynn, Leitrim, late replacement for Derek Fahy).  Bad day at the office for Packie (would have liked to see Jonathan Curran in there), we still need a full-back, and should get the midfield sorted with Seán Cavanagh's return -- were doing fine there till Joe Mc Mahon went off.

All in all, happy enough, we're not too badly set up for the summer.

I personally could not care less about the county as I don't think they are good enough to go all the way anyway

First I am a club man but I still support the county.

Which is it EC Unique?  ;)

The none highlighted part explains my point. I think Tyrone are not good enough to win the AllIreland (just my humble opinion). So I hate the thought of all the other players loosing out until Tyrone are dumped out. If I am wrong I will give them my support. It is the same problem in all counties with no easy answer.

I understand what you're saying ECU, but whether their chances are great or their chances are dire I would always give 100% -- I think that's the least they're deserving of regardless of their chances. And I don't think that's because An Srath Bán is relatively unsuccessful club-wise lately (vís-a-ís Errigal for example (and what a credit your club is)), but I just don't think that's relevant.  You're correct of course about they're being no county without club, but without the county, we're almost equally impoverished, and it does down the not so successful clubs to a degree.

Your opinion, and good luck with it.

Sorry Ziggy (shouldn't have assumed):

                                    Home Win            Draw            Away Win
Tyrone v Mayo                    8 - 15              7 - 1              15 - 8

So we're slight favourites.
